Dell Dimension 8100

For gamers and DVD movie watchers, this Dimension 8100 offers a graphics card with plenty of play.

Gamers may be drawn to this easy-to-use PC that sports the latest in video card technology; small-office users will get more mileage for their money with a more-robust business software package and a less-expensive graphics card.

Dell's new Dimension 8100 is powered by a 1.5GHz Pentium 4 processor supported by 128MB of PC800 Rambus memory. Although it runs mainstream applications fast enough, it's no quicker than a 1GHz Pentium III overall.

Dell Dimension 8100

It's a monster all right, but it's early days for the P4 chip and you might be better off waiting for prices to come down.

With limited software and a new processor that has yet to prove its speed capabilities, leave the 8100 for the time being and wait for prices to come down.
