Dell Inspiron 518

If you want everyday value performance that's a cut above the norm, take a look at the Inspiron 518. Sporting a 2.4-GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, 3GB of PC6400 DDR2 memory, and a 320GB Western Digital Caviar SE16 hard drive (7200 rpm, 16MB cache),...

Strong performance ; Good documentation and support

Needs better cable tie-offs ; Mediocre gaming scores

If excellent everyday performance on a budget is your desire, this PC is a good choice.

Dell Inspiron 518 review: Dell Inspiron 518

Dell Inspiron 518

Useful, USB-port-equipped device tray on top of the unit; strong price performance.

No 64-bit Windows option; no Blu-ray, Draft N Wi-Fi, or other higher-end configuration options.

Dell's Inspiron 518 is the latest in a long line of utilitarian, midrange Windows PCs. We wish Dell offered a bit more flexibility with its configuration, as well as a 64-bit Windows option, but for a straightforward PC, this is one of the more...

Dell Inspiron 518

The Dell Inspiron 518 is a decent upgrade from a bare-bones system, though a weak power supply keeps it from being all that it could be.

No crapware. Top-mounted USB ports and tray. Great multimedia keyboard and optical mouse. Discrete 3D graphics card. Fifteen-month subscription to Internet Security. Quad-core processing power.

3D graphics boost is mild.

All in all, the Inspiron 518 is a strong system with a nice mix of performance, bundled software, and smart design.

I like the speed

I upgraded from an older Dell machine. The increased in RAM and Processor speed make an amazing differance. Download speeds and internet browsing are so much better

No big issues, some adjustment required to the newer Windows office products

Novice user, this is great!

After checking other reviews on several sites, I choose the Inspiron 518. It has lived up to me expectations

Great Machine for the Money

I know it is a marketing thing, but Dell should at least offer the same upgrades in processor and hard drives all the time. So if you want a certain processor, hard drive, etc. and it is not available today, stay tuned, and be patient, it will be...

Blazing speed, easy to set up and use. This is my first venture into Vista and I will say that it is fabulous, contrary to the negative opinions I have heard. When you cut through the negative reasons, it usually ends up people being frustrated they...

The only negative I can express at this time is my displeasure in how Dell markets
