HardwareCentral - Dell OptiPlex 745 Review.

All four flavors come with Intel's GMA 3000 integrated graphics, but all save the smallest can be upgraded to discrete PCI Express x16 graphics in the form of a 128MB ATI Radeon X1300 or 256MB Radeon X1300 Pro card. Our test desktop had one low-profile...

A fold-down handle helps you pull up the riser assembly to insert or remove expansion cards. Two of the four DIMM memory slots are fairly reachable, but the other two hide under the drive bays: The internal bay at the bottom of the stack holds the 80GB...

A good take on the vPro concept but, ultimately, too expensive for most offices

Great for the price

I purchased 12 of these to replace computers in a Medical facility that was still running XP. They have been great thus far. Everyone loves them. the Mice were TERRIBLE. really really uncomfortable in your hand and VERY cheap but that wasnt an issue,...

Small form factor. great bargain. runs fast and a nice low cost (Though you wont be gaming on it any time soon)

Had a few issues 2 out of 12 were DOA but that happens from time to time. RMA was painless as usual. other minor issues included dead CMOS batteries and a (1) DVI cable that was no good and caused video flickering. and 1 had a bent stand that wobbled...

The Optic-Plex 745

I worked with these when they were new and this one seems to be slower even with a new operating system on it. I do wish it had the DVD on board. It would have made it easier after trying to load other software.

The 745 was easy to setup as far as the operating system. It needed updating on the Windows Update site but wasn't that bad

It does not have a DVD/COM drive on the machine. I wish they would have stated this in the ad

Good item for the money

Good item that will last for years - currently used as a basic monitoring tool - no desktop/internet use

Weird cover for rear of case - cable management is made somewhat more difficult

Great Case

There are other machines out there for this price range that are better build quality.

Decent machine for a dedicated task like web browsing or homework

There's a power brick with this machine that you need to plug in also. The prick is at least 3 x the size of most power adapters for laptops! Not very space saving ; Also, the power bricks are very finicky

It is what it is

1) Not sure why this was deployed with a 32-bit OS when the processor is x64 and the board can handle 8GB RAM. Neither can be fully leveraged with x86 OS. Again, I think this is laziness on the side of the refurbishers. 2) In case you don't know, the...

1) Specs are generally accurate ; 2) It will function for what I need it to ; 3) cheep for what it is ; 4) came with what appears to be a brand new keyboard and mouse. Thank goodness, otherwise it would have just been gross ; 5) Was very well packaged,...

1) Came with a 64GB HDD, not the described 80GB drive. (minus one egg) ; 2) Monitor plastic casing seems have seen better days ; 3) all components show a little more than the expected wear and tear, but it does not diminish the functionality ; 4) this...
