Dell Optiplex 755

We tested Dell's OptiPlex 755 Mini-Tower ($1272 as of 9/12/07) as part of "Green PCs: A First Step," a story on energy-efficient computing. This business desktop is Energy Star 4.0-certified and meets the stringent EPEAT Gold environmental impact...

Expandable ; Energy efficient

Lacks some extras

This easy-to-expand unit makes a solid energy-efficient business PC.

Dell Optiplex 755

If you think of green PCs as feeble machines scrunched into a microscopic form factor, you haven't seen the Dell OptiPlex 755 ($1,183 direct). Despite its sizable mid-tower frame, which offers plenty of room for expansion, the OptiPlex 755 has abundant...

EPEAT Gold and Energy Star 4.0 certifications. Room for expansion. Energy efficient. Several form factors available. Easy-open case. Tool-less expansion. Internal power supply. Data redundancy/backup

800-MHz RAM for $20 more would've been a better choice with the motherboard and the CPU's 800-MHz FSB. Many workers don't need the extra expansion or tower configuration. Only VGA out

This is not the most exciting PC on the market, but like others in this segment it proves that you can have both power and energy efficiency. Think of it as the Toyota Highlander hybrid SUV of green PCs.

Dell OptiPlex 755 Review: Windows 7 in the Workplace

Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 will be generally available right at the tail end of October, later this year.

Very small form factor ; External power supply ; Runs Windows 7 admirably

Not loud but not quiet either ; 3D ability still anemic

Even though it's around two years old and possessing very weak 3D performance, the OptiPlex 755 manages to run Windows 7 very well. The OP755 is indicative of many business desktops: low to moderate computational ability paired almost non-existant...

Bang for your buck! - continued..

This is a continuation of my last review, the reason for this one is that I wanted to make other buyers aware of CONSISTENCY ISSUES. The first I got had 2x1GB DDR2 667 RAM, the second two came in with 4x512mb DDR2 667 RAM. Not a big deal, except that I...

Low price ; Windows 7 Professional ; 7200rpm hard disk ; New mouse/keyboard combo ; Gigabit ethernet ; Little Bloatware ; Value per dollar

Packaging ; Appearance (scratches and dings) ; Older DDR2 667mhz memory ; Very Dirty

I installed 4 gigs of ram, a 1TB HDD, and replaced my dual-core with a quad. For this price I paid it's an excellent tower to start building a gaming rig with. I use mine for recording a ton of my music and it's fantastic for that. No MP3 farts or...

Runs Quiet, Fast, and Does what it's supposed too without a hitch
