Dell Optiplex 755

We tested Dell's OptiPlex 755 Mini-Tower ($1272 as of 9/12/07) as part of "Green PCs: A First Step," a story on energy-efficient computing. This business desktop is Energy Star 4.0-certified and meets the stringent EPEAT Gold environmental impact...

Expandable ; Energy efficient

Lacks some extras

This easy-to-expand unit makes a solid energy-efficient business PC.

Dell Optiplex 755

If you think of green PCs as feeble machines scrunched into a microscopic form factor, you haven't seen the Dell OptiPlex 755 ($1,183 direct). Despite its sizable mid-tower frame, which offers plenty of room for expansion, the OptiPlex 755 has abundant...

EPEAT Gold and Energy Star 4.0 certifications. Room for expansion. Energy efficient. Several form factors available. Easy-open case. Tool-less expansion. Internal power supply. Data redundancy/backup

800-MHz RAM for $20 more would've been a better choice with the motherboard and the CPU's 800-MHz FSB. Many workers don't need the extra expansion or tower configuration. Only VGA out

This is not the most exciting PC on the market, but like others in this segment it proves that you can have both power and energy efficiency. Think of it as the Toyota Highlander hybrid SUV of green PCs.

Dell Optiplex 755

A competitor for products like the Lenovo ThinkCentre and the Acer Veriton, the Dell Optiplex 755 aims for lower power more than greater performance.I...

Easy release side panel, vPro technology, good performance for an office PC

Not as small as the Lenovo ThinkCentres we've tested, or the Acer Veriton range; no e-SATA or FireWire

We like the trend towards a power saving focus, though there's little we can attribute to this machine that hasn't been used before. Regardless, it's a promising step forward. Performance-wise this machine does well, though the lack of e-SATA and...

Good for the Price

Not the first time I have had issues with Joy Systems. Newegg's Premier membership makes shipping and RMA's much easier.

Good small desktop. Good for standard office work. Not for the power user. They finally did a small upgrade to the quality of keyboard and mouse. They are still among the cheapest keyboard and mouse on earth, but now are large enough for an adults hand.

First machine had issues sent back, received the second machine with a bad DVD drive, just replaced it my self vs. going through another RMA.

Great !! Except dvd rom keeps opening and closing!

Fast. Can upgrade to windows 10!

CD rom is broken. Keeps opening and closing or won't stay closed at all.

Sweet deal! So I bought 3!

Definitely worth the price. Was cheaper then upgrading my older WinXP PC's. Just add your monitor and you've got a super workhorse of a system. The included keyboard and mouse, although wired USB units, were a decent design.

Could have come with just a smidge more RAM. But 100% functioning with the standard 2GB.

Great basic computer for the price.

Would recommend to anyone looking for a great basic computer.

Fast and easy setup, easily upgraded this to Windows 10, liked it so much we purchased a second machine.

no antivirus software but no issue for only $79 total cost!

Good work place machine.

How can they package and sell this so cheap? It does not come with a retail copy of Windows 7, but is preloaded and upgrades to Windows 10 with no problems.

This seems to be a great deal. Runs clean and fast. Upgrades to windows 10 with no problems. Came in fast with great, secure packaging . Has an year warranty. I will probably purchase another unit.

Have not found any "cons" yet.

Good deal

The keyboard and mouse that came with it weren't great, but they were new in the box. Comes with a built in recovery partition, which is nice if you get a virus, etc.

Very good price. Arrived quickly (2 days). Very clean and quick system. Easily upgraded to windows 10 as others have said. The system I received had a 3.0 GHz dual core.

Had to reseat the CPU to get it to boot, but that is a fairly common issue with computers that have been through shipping. Hard drive spin up time rated at 95% - not bad but not perfect.
