Dell Optiplex 755

We tested Dell's OptiPlex 755 Mini-Tower ($1272 as of 9/12/07) as part of "Green PCs: A First Step," a story on energy-efficient computing. This business desktop is Energy Star 4.0-certified and meets the stringent EPEAT Gold environmental impact...

Expandable ; Energy efficient

Lacks some extras

This easy-to-expand unit makes a solid energy-efficient business PC.

Dell Optiplex 755

If you think of green PCs as feeble machines scrunched into a microscopic form factor, you haven't seen the Dell OptiPlex 755 ($1,183 direct). Despite its sizable mid-tower frame, which offers plenty of room for expansion, the OptiPlex 755 has abundant...

EPEAT Gold and Energy Star 4.0 certifications. Room for expansion. Energy efficient. Several form factors available. Easy-open case. Tool-less expansion. Internal power supply. Data redundancy/backup

800-MHz RAM for $20 more would've been a better choice with the motherboard and the CPU's 800-MHz FSB. Many workers don't need the extra expansion or tower configuration. Only VGA out

This is not the most exciting PC on the market, but like others in this segment it proves that you can have both power and energy efficiency. Think of it as the Toyota Highlander hybrid SUV of green PCs.

Dell Optiplex 755

A competitor for products like the Lenovo ThinkCentre and the Acer Veriton, the Dell Optiplex 755 aims for lower power more than greater performance.I...

Easy release side panel, vPro technology, good performance for an office PC

Not as small as the Lenovo ThinkCentres we've tested, or the Acer Veriton range; no e-SATA or FireWire

We like the trend towards a power saving focus, though there's little we can attribute to this machine that hasn't been used before. Regardless, it's a promising step forward. Performance-wise this machine does well, though the lack of e-SATA and...

Wrong Windows

The PC itself works great, but the company that refurbished it (AST) is not helpful at all.

Works well enough for the 90 dollar price

Was shipped with a different version of Windows than the tag for the Windows product tag, so I cannot register Windows. Contacted the company that refurbished it, and they are not being cooperative at all. The latest recommendation is to buy a license...

Great Price - But not 32-bit OS

If these machines had come with OEM disks, this would have made the whole process less of a headache.

For the price, this was a perfect choice to update two aging computers that were acting as terminals for our phone system

The title says 32-bit, which is one of the features my aging software requires. These came installed with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium. Fortunately, the software key will work on both 32bit and 64bit versions, but now I'm stuck...

Very Old Model

When the computer arrived, it did not have all the memory that was listed. It was very easy to contact the company and have them send the extra memory

Boot up was slow. Could not get programs to install because the computer would time out. After much work and defrag, etc. we finally took it to a computer repair store to have diagnostics run on it. The technology and drivers are so old, it can't even...

Refurbished Dell Optiplex 755 Win7 pro

It is a good price to upgrade to Win 7 Pro. Still 5 stars.

It works. Upgrade the same from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro

It comes with USB keyboard and mice, power cord that has no CSA logo. I use that power cord for the HP3005 printer, it warms up quickly. I use my own Dell power cord, kb and mice instead

755 Dell

I will pick up 3 more today.

Like new, 2.4 GB Core 2 Duo. Add 2 more 1 GB DDR2 6400 RAMs and you are good to go. Computer has 4 memory slots with 2 being populated. Very clean system, like new inside and out

32 bit OS but that really isn't a con for most users
