Dell Optiplex 780 USFF

Business-class desktop PCs like the Dell Optiplex 780 USFF receive slightly different consideration during our review process. Though we weren't about to go easy on this minitower, certain elements of our usual desktop PC reviews deal more with home...

Strong general performance for its class

Unusual design hampers accessibility ; Hefty asking price

The Optiplex 780 USFF offers competitive performance in a space-saving design, but Dell is asking a bit much for what it delivers.

Dell Optiplex 780 Ultra Small Form Factor

The Dell Optiplex 780 USFF ($1,484 direct) is an ultra-small form factor (USFF) desktop PC that can fit virtually anywhere your business requires. Since it takes up so little room on the desk, it's perfect for the space-constrained business user. If...

Compact form factor. Quiet. All-in-one-like monitor stand. Relatively simple to service. VPro. DisplayPort and eSATA port. Lockable. No Bloatware

Monitor stand requires too many cables and connections. Locked down desktop has no access to eSATA. Wireless requires external antenna

The Dell Optiplex 780 USFF is an ultra-small form factor PC for the enterprise and SMB markets. Add a 22-inch monitor, and it takes up as much desk space as a mid-sized all-in-one PC. It's perfect for the space-constrained business user.

Dell Optiplex 780 USFF review

Though we weren't about to go easy on this minitower, certain elements of our usual desktop PC reviews deal more with home and home-office concerns. In this case Dell has tried to focus on business needs, as the Dell Optiplex 780 takes a distinct...

good basic computer, poor packaging, great customer support

I had ordered this computer as a starter system for my son as a surprise. When it arrived, it was in pieces, case broken, mouse destroyed, not what I was hoping to see with only a few shipping days until Christmas. There was simply too little packing...

Nice little computer for the price, no bloatware!! 8GB memory. Large HD. I used an inexpensive graphics card to get things running, that will be upgraded soon, as it seems to be the only bottleneck. I upgraded to Window 10, and it runs terrific. My son...

The only complaint was the original unit was damaged in shipping.

Never took a chance on refurb before... regretting it now.

Some things are too good to be true. Getting a replacement sent through Newegg's RMA process, hoping the next one does better.

-Good deal for the price. -Was shipped super fast.

-DVD drive was not secured and the screw for it was loose within the case. -Hard drive was a 2010 Hitachi Deskstar... I wasn't expecting anything new but 2010? That's bad IMO, even by refurb standards. -Came with 2x4GB sticks of RAM, one of which was...

Product was shipped and keyboard was broken; several keys did not work. Newegg would not replace just the keyboard.

Not likely to recommend this product.

Nothing to report

Product was shipped and keyboard was broken; several keys did not work. Newegg refused to replace just the keyboard. I needed the computer for my business because my existing computer had failed, so I have decided to purchase a keyboard locally in lieu...

Great Small Form factor PC, Windows 7 Update Issues.

Windows 7 has an update issue, documented on multiple web sites. There are ways around it and a time consuming fix, but I would suggest to first turn off updates. Then "After" activating the windows 7 license, upgrade to windows 10. There is a trick to...

The PC is actually a great unit! Fast 3.0 GHz, core 2, and 250 GB at this price is untouchable. Nice and compact for the desktop. Very quiet. Looks Brand New ! The issue from buyer above is caused by windows, not by the PC.

Didn't buy two ! Also, just a pain that windows 7 got so finicky in late 2015.
