Dell Optiplex 780 USFF

Business-class desktop PCs like the Dell Optiplex 780 USFF receive slightly different consideration during our review process. Though we weren't about to go easy on this minitower, certain elements of our usual desktop PC reviews deal more with home...

Strong general performance for its class

Unusual design hampers accessibility ; Hefty asking price

The Optiplex 780 USFF offers competitive performance in a space-saving design, but Dell is asking a bit much for what it delivers.

Dell Optiplex 780 Ultra Small Form Factor

The Dell Optiplex 780 USFF ($1,484 direct) is an ultra-small form factor (USFF) desktop PC that can fit virtually anywhere your business requires. Since it takes up so little room on the desk, it's perfect for the space-constrained business user. If...

Compact form factor. Quiet. All-in-one-like monitor stand. Relatively simple to service. VPro. DisplayPort and eSATA port. Lockable. No Bloatware

Monitor stand requires too many cables and connections. Locked down desktop has no access to eSATA. Wireless requires external antenna

The Dell Optiplex 780 USFF is an ultra-small form factor PC for the enterprise and SMB markets. Add a 22-inch monitor, and it takes up as much desk space as a mid-sized all-in-one PC. It's perfect for the space-constrained business user.

Dell Optiplex 780 USFF review

Though we weren't about to go easy on this minitower, certain elements of our usual desktop PC reviews deal more with home and home-office concerns. In this case Dell has tried to focus on business needs, as the Dell Optiplex 780 takes a distinct...

Waoh! ........... it's a Dell dude.

Hoping to get it replaced with E8400 3.00 Gig unit with at least a halfway decent keyboard.

Start and runs OK. Punctual shipping. Generally good case but missing processor ID label on front panel

Not a E8400 processor (3.00 Ghz) but a E7600 (3.06Ghz) (slower buss speed!) Graphics performance marginal. (3.5) Keyboard supplied - a worn out HP mod KU-0133 - A,S & D keys barely legible. J key tactile 'pip' worn off!

Not a happy customer

I really wish I was having the same luck as everyone else seems to have had with the computer. An IT friend told me it was a good buy. If it worked I guess it would be.

newegg customer service is helping me contact the refurbisher to see what can be done about my problems.

This is a noisy computer so make sure to put it on the floor. I have had mine less than 90 days and am getting 3 error messages that stop me from using the computer.

Functionally OK

This is a borderline. I needed a win 7 system quick and this works but the case condition is such that it needs to be on the floor and under the work surface where the appearance is hidden.

Seems to perform satisfactorily. No glitches in getting set up.

Looks like it was just thrown into a big recycle box without care about case damage. Pretty rough.

Dell is a great manufactured computer.

I would recommend this if all your doing is Homework and surfing the Internet...You can't upgrade this cheaply!!!

It's a Dell....Better than most!

Computer that arrived was not like the one pictured, No multi media drive. No extra power cables for add-ons, Like a Video Card.

Pleasantly Surprised

I considered returning the machine, but it was in such good condition and working so well, that I decided to keep it...

The machine looks like new, and started right up to the configuration settings... Speed wise, it is pretty decent for a older machine...

It was not a E8400 (3.00GHz) processor as stated, but a E7600 (3.06GHz) processor... This is not knowable until the machine is up and running, to enable checking System Info, or running cpu-z The clock speed is slightly higher, but the BUS Speed is...

No disapointments here!

I would most certainly buy another one of these.

Arrived as expected, looks new, very few and very small surface scratches had to look close to see, look at the specs, what's not to like? Personal computer for mostly surfing the net, down loading pix, right off I downloaded MS security essentials. I...

At the price I paid I'm not complaining. Mine has Display port or vga for monitors and of course my monitor is is DVI or VGA so I did a DVI to Display port cable. I bought a used Dell SFF 512 mb graphics video card with DVI port for $10 shipped then I...
