Review: Dell PowerEdge 2950

Review: Dell PowerEdge 2950Dell's 2U rackmount server offers tidy, tool-free design throughout

Good value ; low-voltage Xeons ; excellent storage potential ; clean internal design ; plenty of hot-swappable components ; integrated Raid ; remote management controller

Noisy fans ; 2.5in drives are the lower-performance 10,000rpm variety ; only basic access to embedded IPMI 2.0 controller

Dell delivers a good all-round server package with a fine specification for a price that includes plenty of storage and a pair of low-voltage dual-core Xeon CPUs.

PC Pro: Product Reviews: Dell PowerEdge 2950

The 2U chassis brings more room for expansion than the 1950, and it's relatively quiet too
