Dell PowerEdge R610

The Dell PowerEdge R610 is one classy rack server that delivers a remarkable range of new features.

Dell's new PowerEdge R610 is one classy rack server that delivers a remarkable range of new features, some of which are unique. It's very well-designed and offers full support for the latest Xeon 5500 Series processors plus Dell has made some huge...

Dell - PowerEdge R610

Intel's 45nm Xeon 5500 (Nehalem) processor technology is something of a no-brainer, delivering an unbeatable mix of high performance and energy saving features. Server vendors have, understandably, adopted it with gusto, among them Dell, whose 11th ...

The 1U member of Dell's 11th generation PowerEdge server family is small but beautifully formed, with sockets for two Xeon 5500 (Nehalem) processors and up to 48GB of RAM. The new Dell Lifecycle controller is another key feature along with built-in...

Dell PowerEdge R610 server review

HP and IBM should be very afraid. Dell's latest PowerEdge R610 - featuring Intel's new 'Nehalem' Xeon 5500 - sets new standards for rack server design. We exclusively review the new addition to the PowerEdge family.

Dell's eleventh generation PowerEdge servers raise the bar for rack server design - the new R610 simply oozes class. It delivers Intel's new 5500 Series processors in an extremely well designed chassis that's easy on the power supply, incredibly quiet...

Reliable, not much bloatware, great price

I would recommend this product. It replaced the ASUS BP Series that is end of life in my office, happy with my decision.

Only about 5 programs that you need to uninstall Great price point powerful good warranty

I have not encountered any, yet.

Cannot upgrade video card

Bought this and a Geforce low profile card, but it will not fit in this PC because it is so poorly designed that the put the upgrade slot right next to the power supply, making it so any card with a heat sink that is wider than 1 slot will not fit....

Small size is nice. Windows PRO is a must for remote desktop.

Not fast enough for AutoCAD, Rhino, and all our other office software.

Small problem on arrival

Does everything it was advertised to do.

Con: Did not work when it arrived. Turns out the clips holding the RAM in place came loose during shipping. 4 hours of searching Google about loose wires and connections ended with a /facepalm moment of duh!. Easy fix.

Poor quality

Either poor testing or cheap internal parts or both. Unable to return.

Priced competitively for an office desktop. Deployed 4 of these in an office.

Hard drive failed after 4 months of 15 hour a week use.

No Wireless Card

Good little computer for the money

How did I miss that this had no wireless card. Feel stupid. Buyer beware

Just so you'll know

Bought 40 machines for lab and classroom K-5 student use, instead of tablets. Seemed a good idea, but will this hardware live up to its promises in the long run?

Compact, space-saving design is easy to install. Touch screen enables students to learn a more contemporary method of computer operation vs. conventional mouse and keyboard inputs. Excellent screen image.

Shipped with out-of-date NIC driver. Machines logged off unexpectedly until issue was resolved. Plodding speed with 4Gb RAM. Updated to 8Gb. Boots up like a notebook. Touch screen commands frequently fail to respond. Often necessary to reboot when...

Decent - But must be configured properly.

Nothing wrong with it per-se, but I don't think I'd recommend this for a business environment due its laptop like behavior rather than a desktop like behavior.

Powerful all in one package with a dedicated video card. Mounts up to VESA compliant mounts beautifully.

Given that it's an all in one, it behaves more like a laptop. I had set this up in a dental office to be used infrequently (every 20-25 mins for 2 mins a piece) and discovered that the numerous power saving options were disconnecting the PC from the...
