Dell Vostro 460

The Dell Vostro 460 is a speedy business desktop equipped with Intel's recently launched Sandy Bridge processor. It starts at $529 (as of March 10, 2011), but our review configuration--which came with a 21.5-inch widescreen monitor--is priced at $1393...

Plenty of USB ports ; Strong general performance

Lacks a discrete graphics card

The Dell Vostro 460 offers great general performance, but its reliance on integrated graphics may limit its flexibility.

Dell Vostro 460

Dell has added no bloatware to the Vostro 460—a good thing, as business users don't need systems to lock up at critical moments because some random piece of software is consuming memory or system resources. The Vostro 460 comes with a selection of Dell...

Includes USB 3.0, eSATA, HDMI connectivity. Comes with lengthy security software subscription. Contains no preinstalled bloatware. Virtual PC XP Mode

Upgrades require a screwdriver. Internal USB cable is thick. Warranty is only for one year

With a powerful Intel processor, the Dell Vostro 460 makes quick work of taxing business tasks, like creating a website, or editing photos or a sales video.

Expert Review

With an Intel “Sandy Bridge” CPU inside, the Vostro 460 we tested was one of the speediest PCs to date, albeit pricey for a small-biz PC. Most workers will find a less-expensive configuration of it peppy enough for their needs.

Excellent performance in tested configuration, Attractive design, USB 3.0 ports, Clean of bloatware

Configuration is overkill for most workers, “tool-less” chassis needs tools to open

Dell Vostro 460 review

The Dell Vostro 460 starts at £382 inc VAT, but our review configuration - which came with a 21.5-inch widescreen monitor - is priced at £784 inc VAT (with a £50 discount and a free monitor).

The Dell Vostro 460 is a full system at a reasonable price, and it performs well. If you're seeking a fast performer to get work done, the Vostro 460 is worth a look - but you can find speedier, sexier systems for less. It has severely limited...

Dell Vostro 460 review

Many in the IT industry would have us believe that laptops and tablets are the only business clients that matter anymore, but desktop PCs still have a valuable role to play in most companies.

Ample power for business applications, tool-free access for expansion, Dell offers good support options for SMBs

Monitor not included in price, bulky tower case

Dell's Vostro 460 provides small businesses with a powerful desktop for office applications. The tower case is bulky, but allows for expansion. The starting price is excellent value but costs mount if you include a monitor and Microsoft's Office suite.
