Gateway DX4840-03e

We have few reservations about this Gateway DX4840-03e. Even if it's not a particularly remarkable system, it's hard to argue that it falls short as a general purpose budget midtower. If that's all you're looking for, we can recommend this PC with...

Attractive-enough case design; generally faster performance and better features than competing budget desktops, with only a minor price premium

Lacks variety in external storage ports (no eSATA, no FireWire); slower than competing PCs on multithreaded tasks

Gateway DX4840-15 Desktop Computer Review - PCWorld

Smaller systems generally sacrifice features for a svelte chassis, and HP's Slimline s5370t is no exception.

Gateway DX4840-02e

All four memory banks are populated, but there's room for two additional hard drives and another optical drive (this model comes with a DVD burner installed in the upper bay). The 640GB hard drive provides ample storage for large multimedia files and...

Great performance. Monitor included. Two year warranty on system

Integrated graphics. Bloatware

The Gateway DX4840-02e is a reasonably priced desktop equipped a Core i5 CPU, bundled with a 23-inch monitor, and comes with a two year warranty (courtesy of Costco). You get very strong productivity and multimedia performance for the money you'll spend.

Great performance and a thoughtfully designed case make this machine a serious contender in the sub-$1,000 PC class.

Speedy for the price, Well-designed case, Wi-Fi connectivity, Room for upgrades

Lacks Blu-ray drive and other parts found on similar Gateway model, Overclocked PC from Velocity Micro offers more speed at similar price

Refurbished for $529.99 = Amazing buy, Amazing computer

This computer is awesome! I just recently got it, so the performance of this thing has not been tested greatly yet, but as far as the specs and design, this is an amazing desktop, specially at the current sale price online of 529.99 refurbished. The...

I would highly recommend this pc to anyone, it has a lot of bang for the buck! And I love Intel components, I was a Desktop Technician for 7 years at Intel in Sacramento, California.

Very nice for the price, 8Gig Ram, 1Terabyte HD. Intel I3 processor is fast! I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional x64 and IE9 x64, works fabulous

Should include a built in wifi card

Great for the price

Worth buying in-stock at BestBuy under $500 on sale.

8 GB, i3 CPU, 64-bit

Needs Win 7 Ultimate upgrade to better use RAM slots; 4 slots already occupied by 2GB each

Gateway DX4840-03e

Recommend this machine for just about any home use.

Quiet, intuitive, lots of interface, fast, front USB ports and card slots, the nice flat indented top is a great place for one's WeFi/router/Internet modem, rich looking case

Not all USB ports are the same; the PC does not recognize some hardware as new devices when attached to front USB ports not directly connected to the mother board.. This seems to be an issue with all Windows PC's, but that does not make it right

Not a bad little machine

I've purchased 3 of these for clients, they run pretty quick once you get norton uninstalled and work fine for your basic workstation

I don't like the way the CD drives open, button is on the side, you'd be surprised how many calls I get about not being able to open the thing

Computer is fast on the internet. My mother-in-law had an older XP model computer with little RAM and a slow processor. She complained all the time about how slow her high speed internet service was. I am not a geek, but I told her it was her old...
