The Gateway LX6200-01 ($780 list) is Gateway's version of the moderately priced but high-performing multimedia PC. It's aimed at video geeks who would rather shoot and edit film clips than play 3D video games. It's got an AMD Phenom Quad-Core...

Reasonable price. Lots of RAM. Loads of hard-drive space. Easy hard-drive expansion. Digital TV tuner. Front-panel controls

Quite a bit slower than other quad-core PCs at some tasks. Plastics are cheap feeling. Poor 3D performance. Crapware. Case requires screwdriver to open and service

The Gateway LX6200-01 has a bunch of good features, and a few quirks. It is a passable option for the cash-strapped power user that absolutely has to have quad-core power, but there are better choices out there.

Gateway's LX6200-01 home theater PC has a nice selection of media features, but its performance prevents it from being an outstanding value.
