Compaq Presario SR5350F Value Desktop PC

Inexpensive PC with big hard drive succeeds at standard multimedia tasks, but its graphics are too weak for serious gamers.

Very inexpensive ; Large (360GB) hard drive

Poor integrated graphics ; Bundled mouse is ball-style, not optical

All in all, Compaq's Presario SR5350F is a good-performing system with plenty of storage space, but you may want to add a discrete graphics card after you get it home

Compaq Presario SR5350F

The low-cost Compaq Presario SR5350F is an enticing Vista Home Premium system that's well-suited for running standard applications and for managing a large digital library of video, music, and photos. Like the eMachines T5246, the SR5350F is a prebuilt...

Compaq Presario SR5130NX

The Compaq Presario SR5130NX ($480 direct) is a middle-of-the-road offering from Compaq, backed by the HP behemoth. Since HP held on to the Compaq name (and brand) after the 2002 merger, Compaq has moved "down market" to become the company's value...

Larger hard drive than that of some rivals. Nice unified design ID (with monitor, keyboard and mouse)

Slower than rivals in the same price range. Some bloatware. Only two DIMM slots. Only 60 days of Norton Internet Security subscription

The Compaq Presario SR5130NX neither excels nor offends. It's an okay choice for a middle-of-the-road PC in the $500 range.

Compaq Presario SR5130NX Desktop

The attractive Compaq Presario SR5130NX has the middling performance you'd expect for its $499 price, but it should suit undemanding users don't expect to upgrade it much.

Attractive case; decent configuration; includes Vista Home Premium

1GB of RAM barely enough for OS; some limited expansion options

Double your display real estate by adding a second monitor. It's a snap: Here's how

Pocket Media Drive bay, 15-in-1 media card reader, LightScribe DVD re-writer

The HP Compaq Presario SR5040AN may not be the most powerful machine around, but it comes with some useful features and plenty of upgrade potential.

Compaq Presario SR5085

A solid family desktop system best suited to e-mail, Internet browsing, school projects and the odd game when the kids are in bed, it's home computing on a modest budget.

Overall We'll hold back on passing judgement on the system until we can have a play with one in the flesh. If you find yourself looking at machines in this price bracket, for your hard-earned two large, you're better off spending the extra hundred...

Pretty good for the price

I would highly recommend upgrading to at least 2 gigabytes of RAM and downloading that AMD dual core optimizer to get it to run smoother. And if you want to do any kind of gaming, you'd better upgrade your graphics card. And before you do that, you...

I bought one a while back and it still works pretty well. It was pretty cheap and that's always great. The 200 gigabyte hard drive capacity is decent. It came with a dual layer DVD burner with lightscribe

There are only 2 PCI expansion slots. It had only 1 gigabye of RAM installed (but can be upgraded to 4). It would also freeze frequently (but it was fixed by downloading a dual core optimizer from AMD). It only had a 250 watt power supply

A good machine!

The price was definitely right on this one! It was very simple to upgrade this unit as well. No issues with installing new components. I've bumped it up to 2G of ram, a 1G Nvidia card, Audigy 4 sound and with a second HD have it dual boot with the...

Price was reasonableI (only paid $300!) Very responsive. Accepted all upgrades without issues.. It does have a PCI - E video slot available

Not alot of space inside to work with. Only one side of the case is removable and the HD cage is vertical and placed against the back. Very difficult to manouver around inside

Best PC Mac OSX 10.5 system ever :)

It came with Vista (Which SUCKS) and I installed XP on it. Then I got sick of Microsoft Windows all together and installed Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard and it was the best thing I ever did. Leopard runs excellent and I can get work done so much faster without...

The best PC I have ever owned that runs any OS

None that I see :)

Excellent entry level system

I got this system as a package deal from my ISP. As provided it was a decent system for web browsing and general use. After a week I fixed it's 2 most glaring problems for my own personal needs by adding:

Stylish, Quality components, Lightscribe on burner

No DVI cable for monitor, All SATA ports used. Oldstyle ball mouse
