HP EX490 MediaSmart Server

 

A Windows-based NAS device that's easy to use

Comparatively inexpensive, tool-less drive trays, Windows console is easy to use

Drive trays won't fit 2.5in drives, console can be slow to navigate, limited storage configuration options

The HP EX490 MediaSmart Server brings set-and-forget storage into the home, with a Windows operating system and automatic backups. It's definitely easy to use, though the limited configuration options can be frustrating for tech-savvy users.

This HP NAS isn't a cheap piece of kit, but we think it's a winner, with its swappable hard drives, easy upgrades and solid construction

Well-built ; swappable hard disks ; four USB ports ; easy upgrades ; works with most devices

Not the cheapest
