HP Pavilion Elite HPE-112y

Editors' note: This review is part of our 2010 retail laptop and desktop spring roundup , which covers specific fixed configurations of popular systems found in retail stores.

Smart balance between features and performance; Blu-ray drive; energy efficient; interior improved from older Pavilion Elites.

Adding or replacing a hard drive is still unnecessarily complicated.

A midtower PC with a Blu-ray drive isn't for everyone, especially if that option requires you to make sacrifices elsewhere. Fortunately, HP's Pavilion Elite HPE-112y strikes the right balance between its features and performance, such that the niche...

HP Pavilion Elite HPE-112y and the Dell Inspiron i580-5108NBC

Today we'll take a look at two mainstream fixed configuration desktops, the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-112y and the Dell Inspiron i580-5108NBC. While not the most expensive desktops on the market, these are not budget models either, and if you're looking...

Other core components include a spacious 1 TB hard drive, which should be plenty of storage for most users. Graphics are supported by an ATI Radeon HD 4350 card that allows you to use the desktop for entertainment purposes like light gaming and...

"Great Project PC, after a few things are changed :)"

I'm a pretty avid gamer. Recieved this computer as a Birthday Present in March of 2010. Replaced my single core Dell Pentium 3ghz w/ HT. What a difference!!

Plenty of RAM, runs quiet, solid Quad-Core CPU, room to work inside the case

Weak PSU included.

"Blu-ray drive dosnt play new blu-ray movies"

Less than a year after buying the PC, the software that HP provides to read blu-ray doesnt work on the new blu-ray movies. The customer service told me they were trying to solve the problem (apparently I wasnt the only one!!). They asked me to install...

If you dont need any "hard work" , this is fine ... but then you'd better buy a cheaper PC.

Blu-ray drive dosnt play new blu-ray movies, and many, many other things that others said already

"Bang for the buck!"

Do I wish I could find even MORE machine for ...

Nice to have Blu-ray on my desktop. This is a fast machine for the money. The CNET review is right on... You can get something slightly faster but you'll miss out on having a Blu-ray player

I had to add a eSATA card and a FW800 card in order to connect my firewire drives for Avid editing. The bundled HP monitor had a yellow cast at the edges of the screen. Went back and noticed the one on display did, too. I exchanged mine for an LG

Its okay i like hp but there are deals out there to be found : good comp not a fan of AMD but it gets its job done.

good with bluray and the 1tbHD and maybe the wireless

could have gotten a core i7 860 HPE-150t customizable with less disk space, same GPU 6gb of ram, minus wireless prob. only a wirless N card, tv tuner giveortakefor the bluray and just overall better for $940 using a 5% of coupon code and bingcashback
