HP Pavilion 300-020 Mini review

Small form-factor desktop PCs enjoyed their greatest popularity several years ago. It was the era of the media center computer, when tech-savvy home-theater enthusiasts would hook tiny computers up to TVs to stream video or record over-the-air...

The HP Pavilion Mini costs less than other small desktops, offers options for the CPU and hard drive, and allows for user upgrades later on. A wireless keyboard and mouse are included.

Even the top-end hardware configuration is slow, and there are no options for SSD hard drives or faster Wi-Fi.

Smaller and less expensive than a Mac Mini, the HP Pavilion Mini focuses on big storage over fast performance.

HP Pavilion Mini

The HP Pavilion Mini is a competent small-form-factor desktop PC with basic features and 1TB of local storage. It's a good choice if you want more than just a media streamer in your den.

Compact size. Comes with wireless keyboard and mouse.

External power brick. No 5GHz Wi-Fi. Only a 5,400rpm hard drive.

The HP Pavilion Mini is a competent choice if you're looking for a basic SFF PC. It gets the job done, with a minimum of fuss. It can give you the full features of a PC in your living room, including running Windows programs, online services, and...

HP Pavilion Mini Review and Ratings

Though it looks more like a streaming box than a desktop, the HP Pavilion Mini offers more full-fledged PC goodness than you'll get from a Roku or Chromebox. But as with all things, the added functionality comes at a price.

Tiny size ; Plenty of storage ; Looks good ; Runs quietly

Only fair performance ; Limited upgradeability ; A nano receiver for the keyboard and mouse would have been nice

If you want to do some serious multimedia content creation or hardcore gaming, you'll need more horsepower than the HP Pavilion Mini can provide. Contrarily, if all you want to do is stream content to a TV, cheaper options are available. But if you're...

Cheap, functional, upgradeable: HP’s Stream and Pavilion Mini desktops reviewed

These inexpensive Windows desktops have a surprising amount to offer.

Cheap and small ; Good port selection for the size—the SD card slot is a handy addition not available on the NUC, and we appreciate the full-size HDMI port ; Incredibly easy to open and upgrade the RAM, SSD, and Wi-Fi card ; Haswell U processors and...

Shipping memory configuration hurts memory and graphics performance ; 32GB Stream Mini comes with very little usable disk space out of the box, a good chunk of which is dedicated to a recovery partition

Still, you can get more out of these desktops. In the next section, we'll show you how to get the most out of both. As it turns out, each is dead simple to open and upgrade.

HP Pavilion Mini review

Is this the Windows-toting answer to a Mac Mini?

Nice design ; Small footprint ; Plenty of connectivity ; Ample performance

Limited upgrade potential ; Too much bloatware

This mini desktop won't tear through intensive tasks, but for the price, the specs packed into this stylish package make it an attractive option.

HP Pavilion Mini review

A classy mini PC with room for expansion, but very strong rivals means its appeal is limited

HP Pavilion Mini

Desktop PCs are shrinking in size, and HP's Pavilion Mini shows off just how far the once-hefty home computer has come. While not as compact as a PC stick, the Pavilion is a small, stylish box that takes up barely any of your precious desk space.

Attractive, compact design ; Generous selection of ports ; Upgradeable to Windows 10

Poor performance ; Overpriced ; Cables not included

Sadly, the HP Pavilion mini desktop isn’t as slick as it looks.

HP Pavilion Mini Desktop

Hands-on: A smart little mini desktop for your living room

In truth that's all the there is to it, here. The Mini Desktop line isn't complicated or flashy, but I can see it winning many fans. It does the basics well and looks good doing it. It would make a great living room PC, perhaps running a Plex client,...

HP Pavilion Mini 300-030na review

  (Rating Hidden)

Looking very similar to Apple's Mac mini, the HP Pavilion Mini 300-030na is a tiny PC that stands out from the crowd. It's small enough to fit on your desk, but it doesn't come with a screen, keyboard or mouse. We tested this PC to see how it measures...
