HP Z1 Workstation Review

This summer HP has brought on a beast of a business machine in the Z1 all-in-one Workstation, complete with an upgradable set of innards and all-in-one style. The display is a massive LED-backlit 27-inch IPS panel at 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and...

HP Z1 Workstation

No oops about it, HP has done it again with the introduction of the Z1 Workstation. The engineering behind the first all-in-one workstation-class computer is nothing short of amazing. Designed specifically for professionals in the graphics,...

High performance; easy to upgrade

No touchscreen capability; poor placement of back ports

Expect power and performance in a sleek, sexy, and easily accessible chassis that will make all the diehard Apple fans sit up and take notice. The Z1 Workstation is available starting at $1,899 with fully customizable options. (For benchmark results,...

Power without the tower" indeed.

Easy to access internal components, space-saving, great screen quality, quiet performance, GPU acceleration is a big bonus

Screen can be quite glossy at times, dual HDDs need to be 2.5

HP prides itself on what they call the “Z-DNA”, which defines their workstation lineup. One aspect of this is the fact that all of HP’s workstations can be fully serviced without the need to remove a single screw. This is especially true of the Z1,...

HP Z1 Workstation

The HP Z1 merges two worlds: the all-in-one desktop and the professional workstation. Typically, an all-in-one is a space-saving and sleek consumer PC, while a workstation is a professional-grade system in a traditional tower. With the HP Z1, business...

Sleek design ; Professional-grade components ; Easy-to-access internals for an all-in-one ; Quiet operation

Rear ports are difficult to reach

Whether you view it as a remarkably sleek and slim workstation or an insanely powerful and reliable all-in-one PC, the HP Z1 is unique: it's the first 27-inch all-in-one workstation.

First Look Review: Distinctive all-in-one system has it all — and it all fits inside a 27" display.

The HP Z1 is a powerful workstation, which comes at a price. Our review unit, which can only be described as fully loaded, was priced at $5,673 (including the stunning 27" display). Visit HP's web site to price a custom configuration to your exact...

Time for a spot of word association. We say workstation, you think big, black monolith. Right? What to make, then, of HP's new Z1 all-in-one workstation?

Excellent build quality ; Easily upgraded ; Quality IPS screen

Lack of performance ; No SSD as standard ; Price

Desktop PC systems are rapidly becoming old hat, even when it comes to powerful systems for design, production and video editing work. A large part of the credit for that goes to Apple - its iMac all-in-one computers proved that a compact design...

Whether you're kitting out a design department or creating your own digital artist's studio, this powerful all-in-one will meet your every need

HP Z1 Workstation review

The HP Z1 Workstation isn't going to take pride of place in your living room, but if you're after a big-screen all-in-one PC with enough power to chew through any graphics tasks you can throw at it, the Z1 is definitely worth a thought.

Extremely powerful ; High-resolution screen is great for editing ; Easy to upgrade components

Expensive ; High resolution isn't suited for normal office tasks ; Extremely heavy

The HP Z1 Workstation might be the biggest and heaviest thing you could put on your desk, but it's packed with enough high-spec tech to cope with any tasks a graphics professional could throw at it. The high-resolution screen and the ease with which...

HP Z1 Workstation

The Z1 workstation really brings HP's engineering skill to the fore. However, the large markup on workstation parts means that a significantly cheaper machine will outperform it, and high-end graphics cards are left out in the cold.

User serviceable all-in-one ; Good display

No high-end graphics SKU ; Stand mechanism is clunky ; Ports on the rear are incredibly difficult to get access to ; Better performance on consumer all-in-ones for considerably less

It's a fascinating concept, and one that we hope bleeds down to consumer all-in-ones from here. Who knows; maybe then MXM might finally take off. Until then, we look forward to the next revision.

You have review this as an alterative to Mac and i think you are forgetting the CAD audience. The Z1 is perfectly suited for the CAD arena with the Quadro graphics, large screen and the upgrade options. The All-In-One design keeps the the wires to a...
