Casio G'zOne Rock (black, Verizon Wireless)

The Casio G'zOne series of ruggedized phones have made fans over the years, ever since the Type-V model that was released in 2006. They are made not just for those with hard-hat jobs, but also for those of us who simply want durable phones that will...

The Casio G'zOne Rock is military-certified to withstand a variety of environmental hazards, plus it features outdoor-specific applications like a compass and a thermometer. It also has EV-DO Rev. A, Push-to-Talk, GPS, a 2.0-megapixel camera, and more

The Casio G'zOne Rock is rather bulky, the music player interface is a little sluggish, and both photo and call quality could be improved

The Casio G'zOne Rock is the ultimate all-in-one phone for the outdoors enthusiast, but we did wish it had better performance.

AT&T Quickfire (lime green)

Plenty of messaging phones have come our way lately, with clamshell models like the LG Lotus from Sprint to square slider models like the Verizon Wireless Blitz. All of them come with full QWERTY keyboards to facilitate easier texting, and some of them...

The AT&T Quickfire has both a touch screen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It also has multimedia features, HSDPA speed, stereo Bluetooth, A-GPS, and a full HTML browser

The AT&T Quickfire suffers from a slightly finicky touch-screen interface, especially when it comes to the browser

Though it has a few design quirks, the AT&T Quickfire's impressive feature set and intuitive controls make it one of the better messaging phones out there.

Samsung M320 (red, Sprint)

If you're looking for a low-end camera phone with a simple design, you can always count on Samsung. The company spins them out fast and furiously in the United States, particularly in the run-up to the holiday season. The Samsung SPH-M320 for Sprint is...

The Samsung SPH-M320 has a slim, intuitive design with ergonomic controls. It offers Bluetooth, voice dialing, and good photo quality

The Samsung SPH-M320 display has a lower-resolution than we'd like. Also, there was some static during calls

The Samsung SPH-M320 has a decent camera and nice design, but its call quality could be just a bit better.

Good performance and corporate features make this Big Blue unit stand out.

This IBM would make a powerful, no-frills workhorse for any corporate environment.

Review: Casio G'zOne Rock mobile phone

The sturdy Casio G'zOne Rock phone will appeal to outdoors types, but anyone looking for advanced multimedia capabilities might be disappointed.

External and internal shock absorbers and a textured, rubberized back give the 4.4-ounce phone a solid, sure feel; large, exposed screws give the impression of a handset that can take a rough-and-tumble life. Some users will appreciate the Rock's...

Review: Video review of the AT&T Quickfire

The AT&T Quickfire is a cool messaging device that sports a QWERTY keyboard and a hard touchscreen display like the ones on the Apple iPhone and T-Mobile G1. We test it out in this video review.

In the end, we like the AT&T Quickfire more for what it tries to do than perhaps what it actually does well.

Motorola EM330

Motorola has been dreadfully quiet in Australia of late in terms of mobile phone releases. We had to go back to July to find the last handset we revie...

Price, A2DP Bluetooth, FM radio, music player, microSD storage, 3.5mm headphone jack, excellent controls and keypad

Looks bland, mediocre display, menu is slow in some instances

It's a bland-looking handset with a mediocre display, but the EM330 does offer some features usually reserved for much more expensive handsets. It's definitely worth a look if you're on a strict budget.

"The G''zOne Rock: ROCKS!!!"

Prior to this phone I've had Motorolas & LGs.

I've had my Rock for almost 2 years now. It's never (knock on wood) failed me.

Sometimes the display is a LITTLE slow in lighting up when you flip it open - but not enough to get annoying.
