Lenovo ThinkCentre Edge 71

The Lenovo ThinkCentre Edge 71 ($508 direct) is a standard entry-level tower desktop PC for your business. It's not perfect by any means, but it shows that you don't have to settle for buying two-generation old components in a $500 desktop PC. It's...

Nice Price. Decent performance. Good interior room. Serial and Parallel port. Multi monitor support

Only 180W PSU. Only 30-day Norton Internet Security subscription. No next gen ports like HDMI, DisplayPort, eSATA, or USB 3.0. No TPM

At just over $500, the Lenovo ThinkCentre Edge 71 gives you enough power to get your non-demanding business users a PC of their own. It's not a speed demon by any means, but it is faster than similarly priced competitors, and has some expansion room.

This PC is designed for small- and medium-sized businesses. It's a reasonably good looking machine despite that and it comes with a decent configuration that will have no problems tackling common office tasks. It could use a longer standard warranty...

All up, this is a simple machine with a decent configuration that's well suited for business use. It doesn't have fancy features such as USB 3.0, and it even holds on to some relics from the past, such as PS/2. You get four USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit...

Did they even test?

Memory Management BSOD. Windows memory check says no issue however after updating bios, lan driver, chipset, audio drivers from Lenovo. Still Blue screening.

Can't beat the price

Obviously was not tested before shipping out. Long wait times for support

Vendor testing inadequate and long hold times for support.

This is my updated review after my second problem. I am raising my review to 2 stars from 1 since I now have a working machine. The symptom of the graphics issue is problems rebooting after the 200 Windows 7 updates were installed just after first use.

Price.

If you end up needing support, get ready for the on hold from hell. Wait time to speak to someone are easily 90 minutes, without giving you any estimates on hold times. I had two issues. The first was a bad memory card, which I see at least two others...

Can't Comment Much on How This Came Stock

+ Windows 7 Pro 64bit + 2 additional PWM headers on motherboard for case fans + No Bloatware + Works with aftermarket Gskill DDR3 1600 RAM + Easily figured out pinouts for front panel connections (unlike dell machines, for instance) + Nicely built...

- 16x PCIE slot is for graphics ONLY (what a disappointment ) - Only 2 1x PCIE slots - Very limited BIOS, even for an OEM board - Only 3 SATA ports total, 2 populated with HDD and ODD.

Additional problems...

So, memory or motherboard faults when warmed up, BSODs under Windows, rejected Win7 activation code, no GigaBit ethernet, mouse was dead out of the box. An RMA has been issued and I am returning.

inexpensive, nice little box -- if it worked

Further to my previous review, using the UBCD v5.35 test suite, I discovered that the unit I received had large numbers of memory errors after it warmed up (left to run overnight) on all three memory test programs that I used. Initially, it tested OK...
