Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 review

We managed to get some nice hands-on time with the Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 while chilling out in Hong Kong, and we're glad to say that up close this all-in-one...

Lenovo IdeaCentre B500

Lenovo generally means business. The company's ThinkPad laptop line (introduced by IBM in 1992) is an industry standard, outfitting countless road warriors with characteristically somber black boxes. But the IdeaCentre B500 ($1400, as configured) is...

Attractive chassis ; Strong performance

Lacks a touchscreen ; Finicky wireless keyboard connectivity

There's no touchscreen, but Lenovo's IdeaCenre B500 offers a striking design, great performance and an integrated TV tuner.

Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 08873AU review: Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 08873AU

Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 08873AU

Unique external design; strongest gaming performance among Windows all-in-ones; convenient touch capacitive volume and display control buttons.

Lack of an HDMI input limits this system as a home entertainment hub; traditional gaming desktops significantly faster for the same price.

Lenovo's IdeaCenter B500 is a game effort at a 3D-capable Windows all-in-one. It demonstrated modest gaming performance, and at a fair price given its components and the competition. A few more thoughtful features would have earned this PC a stronger...

Lenovo IdeaCentre B500

The system has a decent numbers of connections: There are 6 USB 2.0 ports, multimedia card reader, antenna/cable connector for the tuner, and A/V in that uses an adapter to connect an analog video/audio source. Theoretically, you can use the A/V...

Bright beautiful 1080p HD screen. Less screen/bezel reflections than competitor. Discrete 3D graphics. Blu-ray player. TV tuner. Analog A/V in. Wireless everything (keyboard, mouse, Wi-Fi). Minimal bloatware. Ambient lighting. Motion control remote

No HDMI. No eSATA. Bluetooth keyboard and mouse slow to wake. No 5GHz 802.11a or 802.11n networking. A little pricier than rivals

If you're looking for HD enjoyment, multimedia processing, and 3D power, the Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 is the all-in-one PC to get. The addition of Blu-ray, Internet, and even an HDTV tuner, all provide you with the HD sources you want.

Lenovo IdeaCentre B500-08873AU Review

If you don't like highly reflective displays and don't care about a touch-screen user interface, Lenovo's IdeaCentre B500 is the all-in-one to buy. It's the fastest machine in the bunch, and it's attractively priced at just $1,400.

Best speakers and benchmark performance; strong price point

No touch-screen; 100Mb/s Ethernet; no wall-mount option

The Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 is a strong, attractively priced contender, but we’re willing to trade its superior performance and a little more coin to get the HP’s touch screen, user interface, custom apps, superior web cam, and flexible mounting options.

Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 All-in-one Review

When Lenovo came out with the A600 all-in-one desktop last year, it was ranked as one of the most attractive all-in-one models on the market.

Quiet ; Strong CPU and GPU ; Sleek, solid design

Metal casing gets very hot ; Flaky Bluetooth connections ; Wiimote" func. just a novelty

Clearly, the Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 is one of the most striking all-in-ones on the market today. Frankly, its unique design stands out even when you compare it to the rest of the options out there, regardless of form factor. A matte display, surrounded...

Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 All-in-One PC

Lenovo's venture into all-in-one PCs are pretty well known and we had reviewed the ThinkCentre A70z in May.

The B500’s price is a slight turn off. You have some really good features like a 1 TB HDD, 4GB of RAM and Full HD playback capability. There are a few things like a lack of an HDMI port or even a Blu-Ray drive instead of DVD would give a lot of value...

Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 review

Lenovo describes the IdeaCentre B500 as a “Gaming all-in-one”. Sadly, this means it's been cursed with the sort of styling that manufacturers believe appeals to gamers: lots of angular bits, some brushed-metal-effect plastic and rather more orange than...

The B500 works as a TV, gaming PC, multimedia centre and standard desktop; it's compact and effective but painfully expensive for its specification.
