ThinkPad 40Y7659 90W AC Adapter

Don't buy the cheap after market power cords, you will end up buying this one anyway. It's worth the extra money ($20-30). The power cords wear out over time but the cheap after market ones wear out much much faster.

ThinkPad 40Y7659 90W AC Adapter

When it was new, the device worked flawlessly

Breaks around the PC connector. It's a shame that the expensive part of this power supply doesn't detach from it, the AC prongs are very unlikely to suffer all the wear and tear

Poor strain relief means it dies over time

I treat all my electronics with care. After my second AC adapter died, I tried to treat my third one with a lot of care. I made sure that, whenever possible, the gray area wasn't pinched or bent, etc. It lasted only a few months longer than the others.

When it isn't broken, adequately powers and charges Thinkpad

These die after a while. The gray strain relief stops working, and the cable inside it starts to fray. Eventually your cable will make intermittent contact, and finally make none at all, leave it up to you to fix it somehow or shell out for a new one

Works fine, but runs hot

I got this on sale for $50 here which I personally think is too much for a power adapter, but the average price seems to be closer to $60-70 elsewhere.

What can I say? It works with my T60p and NewEgg shipped it out quickly

Temperature: the transformer runs not warm but hot to the touch. This is not a huge deal given that it will generally be left on the floor, but the temperature difference between this Lenovo-branded adapter and the IBM branded adapter that originally...

Good Product Bad Tips

I work on an Ambulance so this is useful when you only have a 12V Cigarette lighter to use. Can also charge off a normal outlet

The tip supplied with the product for my device (V20 is the Tip - for the Thinkpad z61m) simple will not stay plugged into the back of the computer. Making it VERY frustrating to use, espeically when you put down the laptop walk away from the computer...

Works as expected.

I just needed an adapter to use my laptop and since the manufacturer website was charge almost double, I found Newegg to be more competitive.

It works, much cheaper than at the manufacturer website

Spending this much money on a AC adapter breaks my heart but not really a con

Great straight replacement

We have 100+ Lenovo T430's at our company and we've purchased at least 20 of these to replace ones users loose and wear out from normal use. I feel that better cable management would be a plus as I've never cared for the Velcro type but it's a small...

Lenovo description is wrong

Lenovo's customer service is one of the worse I've ever seen. For my application I specifically needed a 3-prong AC adapter (with the ground pin) as shown and advertised in the picture/description by Lenovo. I called Lenovo and they told me that it was...
