ASRock M8 Barebones Review: My Steam Box

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or so the saying goes. Most development in home computers veers toward the ultra large (high impact gaming machines for 4K resolutions/multi-monitor immersive experiences) or the ultra-tiny (Intel NUC, Raspberry...

Small form factor systems that pack a punch is one of the ways this industry is moving forward. We only have to look at modern consoles and prebuilt systems like the Mac Pro to realize that people want everything smaller with no compromise in...

ASRock M8 Mini-ITX Barebones Gaming PC Review

Some of us love compact gaming builds, but the best of these have always been pre-configured into custom enclosures. Is ASRock's M8 the perfect open-architecture alternative? We load this $550 barebones up with hardware and test its mettle.

ASRock M8 Mini-ITX Z87 Barebones System Review

If there's one thing that makes attending gaming events awkward, it's lugging an awkwardly-sized, 15kg+ system from your home to the destination. Many Mini-ITX systems have aimed to solve the problem, but very few have managed to reduce size while...

Excellent chassis and very well-constructed ; A-Command button with controller and display is useful ; 450W, 80 Plus Bronze power supply ; Well-equipped motherboard: 802.11ac WiFi, eight USB 3.0 ports, six SATA 6Gb/s connections, overclocking-ready ;...

Limited cooling potential with some of the hardware that can be physically installed (4770K) ; Side panel windows scratch easily ; Can get very loud under a gaming load ; A sizeable investment

KitGuru says: A fantastic product that gives gamers an easy-to-transport system capable of housing powerful hardware in its Mini-ITX form factor.

Compact, Sturdy, Air flow is the hardest part.

I ordered mine may 2016. Seems to be old stock, but at least in mine, they swapped the direction of the bottom intake fan to push air out. Back bottom fan is set to pull air in which is not bad. Both top fans are set to push air out. I used the noctua...

-Great size, can fit a pretty huge video card -decent power supply -included motherboard is good -includes wifi ac -red led lights (that was a surprise) -slot in dvd drive -5 available sata ports (with space for 5 solid state drives)

-only 1 pcie (it's mini-itx_ -2 sodimm ddr3 -low overhead for coolers (stock intel cooler technically fits, but with the sidepanel on, severely limits airflow -poor cooling -front power button kinda stiff -4th i series processors

Great quility build and "nice" over all barebone

I own 3 already, i bought 2 here and one "open box" on auction for less than a stick of memory cost. I know what happened to that unit, it came all in pieces in 2 boxes. More than likely because someone couldn't read the directions or figure out how to...

Its an awesome little box, its a 10 on the cool looks factor. It will actually hold pretty good size 3.1"h cooler. Cool red lights on the inside. Low price. Don't get infatuated because it's cheap, looks good and you think its gonna be easy, while that...

Your limited to a Nvidia card by the 450/35a on the 12 power supply (50a total). To upgrade to the 650W SilverStone SX-SFX is about $125, sell the 450 for 50$ and it's only 75$ upgrade. One side of that P/S should be open/caseless/mesh and vented out...

solid build, looks nice.

I've been using this case for almost a year as a both demo machine and for personal gaming, frequently taking it between home and work and on road trips to conferences. So far no problems! It's nice being able to plug four controllers into the front...

-Soo many USB ports. -Easy access. -Pretty small. -Solid and easy to carry.

-I wish it had more expansion slots, but I'm not sure where they'd fit them in. -Power button gets annoying if you accidentally turn it.

Looks nice

Product looks nice, good quality build

Have to spend 20 minutes taking it apart just to put in the initial hard disk, requires quite a bit of disassembly to replace anything but ram

Swing and miss :(

I'm an advanced system builder. I've been building and overclocking PC's since when we had to use the graphite in pencils to fill in the bridges (yes that's how we got down in those days also AMD's were the business back then.) I read the reviews and I...

Great case design. Really the BMW team did an awesome job. The little high quality screws remind me of working on a Mac Book Pro.

First time

No one can deny that this is a beautiful looking mini itx case, possibly the best looking one out there. It is made out of good sturdy outside materials, I believe it is aluminum and you can feel that it is solid. The design on the inside works great...

Sadly I decided to ignore the reviews on this and went ahead and purchased the case. I took all the time to get all the parts in and had everything set up nice then when to power on and it started and stopped. I have built many pc's and this is usually...

Nice looking, Zero support

Would be great if either a) everything worked right or b) support existed. Unfortunately, it doesn't.

It is a very nice looking case, looks great in a gaming center

I have a serious issue with the built in motherboard. They all have the same physical MAC address. I've contacted ASRock every way I can and have not gotten any response at all. I may have to return all 10 to Newegg if I can't get this resolved
