Minix Neo X7 review

Despite strong build quality and high-end hardware, the Minix Neo X7 proves Android still isn't cut out to fill in for a PC.

Minix’s powerful Neo X7 is notably better than the mini-PC competition in both build quality and performance. Though far from luxurious, the X7 is at least utilitarian, and its lack of flash is made up for by an incredible buffet of ports.

Minix Neo X7 Android-based media player REVIEW

The Minix Neo X7 is a hot media player - and there's even a 4K version already available.

Half-baked

These kinds of devices are great ideas, but they seem to suffer from poor engineering in the software/firmware.

Customizable, nice construction, good user community

Slow. I had to stop using this because it can't handle streaming HD over wired ethernet, which, btw, this has only a 100Mb port, without severe stuttering. I had to stop using it. It's a doorstop for me now. It also crashed a lot with stock ROMs. With...

Bugs, crashes...dumb media hub

If you plan on using this box for Google Play Music, don't bother because it does not work. Every time I have had to reset this box and set it all back up again I regret not simply sending it back for a refund. I dont even use it now out of pure...

I dont really know anymore...everything I bought this device for seems to not work. Looks cool, packaging was trendy, has good wifi range and lots of ports.

XBMC constantly crashes, constantly resets itself back to default settings. I'v spent more time setting XBMC up and resetting this silly box (about 6 times now) than I have spent enjoying anything it provides. I have another branded XBMC box I bought...

Still not good enough

ONLY for tech savvy folks, DO NOT get this for your wife or parents they will hate it.

More features than you'll need

Internal flash IO is very slow, its as if your running of a usb or sd card ; After a few weeks is will slow to a crawl until you reset the device. Software, like all these devices is buggy ; Controller sucks even with third party HIDs (again like most...

Bad company, poor product

Good concept, but that's about it. CPU is fast, but GPU is not that great. Decent user community to help deal with all the problems you'll run into

Lousy wi-fi, only supports 20MHz radio rate which makes high bit rate 1080p material next to impossible to use (IE ripped Blu-Rays). Difficult with popular Android apps like google music which crashes after about 30 minutes of use. Frustrating use of...
