Sony VAIO PCV-W510G

Review summary The PC industry insists that the ever-elusive perfect hybrid of television and computer is both at our fingertips and something we really want. Enter the VAIO PCV-W510G, Sony's all-in-one wide-screen desktop with digital video recorder...

Great industrial design; three-position fold-up keyboard; beautiful wide screen; built-in flash card reader; PC Card slot.

No IR blaster to control set-top boxes; built-in speakers sound tinny; fuzzy TV quality; mediocre performance.

The Sony VAIO PCV-W510G is an attractive addition to any room, but it struggles as a fully realized TV-PC hybrid.

"Not made to run video games"

I don't know it seemed dependable at first, my excitement of holding a different format computer was cool

Then I found out I couldn't play star wars on it.

"This is a Great Combination"

The integration of the TV and the computer is great. If you have trouble with the TV screen, try getting a cable or satellite connection instead of using an antenna. The VAIOs come loaded with multimedia programs which are fun and useful to use. Also is v

The keyboard does seem a bit flimsy but has proven itself so far. Giga pocket is still a programing work in progress. Can't tell what channel your on unless you pull up the menu and take away from the picture. Processor could be a little more powerful b

"Excellent performer,stylish, space-saving"

Except for not having a built-in dvd burner, this unit has everything, and works great; and I commend the designer for the built-in LCD screen protector.

2-hinged fold-up keyboard may be a bit flimsy, still checking it out. Based on my experience with other Sony products, I would be hesitant to purchase this if you need customer support.

Product Specifications

Introducing the latest addition to the W series family. The W510G is the stylish and sophisticated desktop we all want to get our hands on. You can enjoy recording and watching your favorite TV shows with the Giga Pocket Personal Video Recorder without the hassle of video tapes! The unique folding keyboard hides all of the unnecessary controls, so it looks like an actual TV when in the TV/Movie mode. The built-in 17.5-inch wide screen LCD makes it a perfect size for the den or bedroom. But don't worry, the W510G is still a powerful desktop computer.
