Sony Vaio RM1N

Taken out of the context of video editing, this machine looks like little more than a cynical excuse to extract money from unsuspecting pockets using clever design.

Full version of Adobe Premier Pro

Flimsy jog wheel

The overall quality is certainly not reflected in the asking price

Sony Vaio RM1N

Sony has always been led by design. It's what makes us punters pay that little bit extra, instead of going for some ugly bit of kit that does pretty much the same job. The Vaio RM1N, you'll be unsurprised to hear, doesn't break with this tried and...

Awesomely strong CPU, Excellent storage options

No high-end graphics, Disappointing peripherals for the price

An intriguing design does not make for a hardcore gaming machine, however much we might want it to

Sony Vaio VGC-RM1N review

The RM1N's dual-chassis setup is unusual to say the least. It's also pricey, as you'd expect for a PC that uses a quad-core CPU. Don't let that put you off, though. It's fast, has plenty of storage, and comes with all the appropriate software for...

Comes in two separate units ; Enormous chassis

Conclusion The RM1N is a well-designed PC that will appeal to video editing and encoding enthusiasts. Its swappable hard drives, excellent software package and sheer speed make it very attractive. But if raw performance is all you need, there are...

PC Pro: Product Reviews: Sony VAIO VGC-RM1N

When it comes to applications that will really make use of your system's available processing power, there's little to compete with video editing. Not only will it utilise all available processing cores when rendering, but it will also gobble up your...

Innovative design and stacks of power. If you can handle the price, this PC is perfect for HD video editing.

Sony VAIO VGC-RM1N HD workstation

HD video may be the standard of choice, but the downside of those beautifully composed and shot HD home movies is how to edit them off the HD camcorder so they can be stored somewhere more convenient than the camcorder itself.
