ZOTAC ZBOX Nano VD01 Plus Review

No one does HTPCs as well as ZOTAC. Apart from graphics cards, this branch of Sapphire (the makers of AMD graphics cards) has been dabbling with mini PCs and micro-ATX motherboards for a while now. They constantly keep refreshing their line-up with new...

For a price tag of Rs.16,333, the Zbox Nano VD01 Plus does not make any sense when you have the AMD option available for a little more. Both the PCs are identical in terms of design, connectivity and build, but there's quite a big gap when it comes to...

Not Recommended

I would not recommend buying this unit or any other unit from this company. This company uses sub-par components in there systems.I have experienced 2 major hardware failures of the same component on 2 separate units.Zotac refuses to honor the warranty...

Don't waste your money

Only thing I could get to install was Ubuntu 12 and 14 server and Debian 7.4. The ethernet port would unlink itself the minute the nic was brought up.

small size and low power

RedHat Based OS won't install, they don't like the VIA cpu

Correction on RMA Turn Around

Update: In the end the total turnaround for the RMA was about a month. They sent me a new unit which has been running for a week without shutting it off. I never did get a MIR form by the way. Have not checked video performance yet to see if the...

Good for what it is...

I was able to install Windows XP and Windows 7 using an SD card without any issues. The free wintoflash utility quickly turned my XP CD or Win7 DVD into a bootable SD card. After the machine completely died, I returned it to NewEgg to purchase the AD10...

Size. The pictures make it look small, but it is just plain tiny. Runs Windows 7 fine - forget anything else (see other thoughts). The processor performed better than expected, it exceeded the performance of an Atom 330

Unfortunately there were a few issues ; 1. The one I got completely died after about 5 days. When I say dead, I mean like paper-weight dead. I probably got a bad one from the start, maybe these other cons are related ; 2. Windows XP did not run well on...

Blinding fast booksize

I wanted something small and light to browse the web or play some old games when I don't want to power on my monolithic desktop. I preinstalled the operating system on the SSD from my desktop, made sure to put in proper drivers, too.

Nano x2 absolutely destroys Atom dual-core, by far the fastest embedded processor on the market. Super low power consumption, plenty good for what it's supposed to do, give you a small quiet low power system. Good for light web browsing and some flash...

The VX900H IGP. While the processor blows the Atom away, the graphics are humbled even by Intel HD 2000, let alone the nVidia ION and ION 2 on more high end Atom systems

I would recommend using an SSD in this, just because it does get really warm. When I tried a hard drive in it, the thing was burning up after a Windows install. Not good. This is really only good for playing 720p video, some light web surfing, word...

Tiny, palm-size, nice fit-and-finish, easy to install HD and RAM

It's really weird to install an OS on this thing because it only has 2 USB 2.0 ports and the other 2 USB ports (3.0) aren't available until you install the drivers in Windows. So, you have a USB DVD-Drive taking up one USB, and you're left with one...

We are using this for a Dashboard computer and so far it works pretty good. It runs a little hot so we will see the test of time.
