Casio EX-Z550 Review

The Casio EX-Z550 compact camera offers 14 megapixels and a 4x wide-angle zoom lens with a focal length of 26-104mm with CCD-shift image stabilization mechanism. The EX-Z550 also boasts a 2.7-inch LCD monitor, 720p high-definition movies and creative...

The 14.1 megapixel Exilim EX-Z550 from Casio looks like any other run of the mill pocket-sized point and shoot compact at first glance. Its sub £150 price seems to confirm that, high resolution aside, there's nothing extraordinary here. It's a pleasant...

Casio Exilim EX-Z550 compact camera

Sometimes small can be beautiful. At other times it can be fiddly and frustrating. So which category does the almost credit card sized Exilim Z550 snapshot from Casio fall into? The Casio Exilim EX-Z550 is an inexpensive, easy to use, snapper that...

Fairly priced, ably constructed plus pocket-sized dimensions ensure easy transport, and we liked the inclusion of a dedicated video record button too

Occasional colour casts, loss of detail towards the corners of photos taken at maximum wideangle, plus pixel fringing

The Casio Exilim EX-Z550 is an inexpensive, easy to use, snapper that allows you to do a little bit more with your images - and videos - within the camera than your bog standard £100 budget-priced compact. Little extras that reveal its manufacturer's...

Casio EX-Z550

The Casio EX-Z550 is a compact point and shoot but does it have what it takes to go up against bigger players such as Canon and Samsung

Casio - EXILIM EX-Z550

There's a certain sub-category of compact digital cameras that ought to have its own label along the lines of ‘Just For Fun', where the emphasis is squarely on seeing how many different ways you can shoot ...

Although externally the Casio EXILIM EX-Z550 looks indistinguishable from so many other digital compacts, the wide lens, huge range of shooting options and the dedicated video button make it stand out from the herd.

Casio Exlim EX-Z550

As a mere man this camera has a distinct disadvantage, so much so that the PR lady who sent it to me apologised you see its p i n k, quite a nice subtle shade but its still pink. However if you are a man I am assured they do other colours.

So as a man I have only one gripe the colour, no doubt ladies will love it and of course the bonus for them their other halves will be less likely to walk off with it

Casio EX-Z550

Looks can be deceiving…

It looks stylish, but this falls short on image quality and manual modes and overcompensates with unnecessary scene modes

I Like it!

It's easy to use. The pictures look fantastic

Im not sure the HD video is anything more then just resetting the resolution

Not worth the value

The peoformance of the camera was not satisfying to me. I had another Casio Exislim camera in 2006, which was simply great. This camera, bought after 4 years did not even match the performance of the previous one. Probably, I will think twice before...
