Fujifilm X30 First Impressions Review

The Fujifilm X20, introduced in January 2013, was a pretty impressive camera. With a 2/3" X-Trans sensor, relatively fast 28-112mm equivalent F2-2.8 lens, and a design that fitted right in with the company's other X-series models, it was a refreshing...

The Fujifilm X20 was an impressive enthusiast compact, and the X30 continues that tradition. It keeps company with the likes of the Canon PowerShot G16 and Nikon Coolpix P7800 (and perhaps the more compact Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 II). Its 12...

Fujifilm X30

The Fujifilm X30 has a great EVF and Classic Chrome film simulation, but some will miss the X20's optical viewfinder.

Classic Chrome film simulation. Bright, manual zoom lens. Excellent EVF. Great control layout. Tilting rear display. 11.8fps burst shooting. Wi-Fi.

Lacks 24mm wide-angle coverage. Occasional lens flare. Omits optical finder found in X20. 12-megapixel 2/3-inch image sensor is showing its age. Video quality could be better. External battery charger not included.

The app also has a geotagging function, but it's not that well designed. It can add location information to photos, but it only does so for ones that were captured in the past few minutes. Canon has a similar feature in its CameraWindow app, but it...

Fujifilm X30 Review

The Fujifilm X30 is an advanced compact camera that offers a retro design, 12 megapixel 2/3-type X-Trans CMOS II sensor with built-in Phase Detection pixels and no low-pass filter, a 4x, 28-112mm, f/2.0-2.8 zoom lens with a manual zoom ring and new...

Fujifilm X30 Review

Remaining largely the same under-the-hood compared to its X20 predecessor, the Fujifilm X30 brings most of its improvements to the exterior: an EVF over the flawed optical viewfinder, a larger, higher-res tilting LCD screen, updated styling and...

Excellent image quality for its class; Very good optical performance from the bright f/2-2.8 4x lens; Quick autofocus, even in very low light; Fast burst modes; EVF fixes the flaws of optical viewfinder in X20; Tilting high-res LCD screen; Excellent...

Top shutter speed is only 1/1000s when lens is wide open; No built-in ND filter; 28mm eq. may not be wide enough for some; Shallow buffer depths; Default NR processing a bit heavy-handed

Fujifilm X30 Review: Sharp But Struggles in Low Light

Like a handsome but absent-minded boyfriend, the good-looking Fujifilm X30 has too many quirks to be a dependable companion. Although the camera did produce bright, sharp pictures and videos under the right conditions, its crowded controls,...

Bright and sharp pictures in bright light ; Handsome design

Slow autofocus in low light ; Frustrating interface ; Oversensitive LCD shutoff sensor

Fujifilm's X30 is a solid bridge camera that delivers high-quality pictures, but it suffers from iffy Wi-Fi and problematic autofocus.

Fuji X30

The Fuji X30 is an excellent premium compact and is one of only threeFuji X30, X20 and X10 to have a mechanical zoom. Its lens is equivalent to 28-112mm which is suitable for a wide variety of subjects and has a rather bright maximum aperture. The X30...

Class-leading fast and reliable autofocus, Excellent sharpness, Good dynamic-range, Conservative metering, Nicely saturated colors, Mechanical zoom, Superb EVF, Great ergonomics, Good battery-life

Below average white-balance accuracy, Wrong Live-Histogram, Dark exposure of low-contrast scenes, Stepless control-ring, Video capture delay

The Fuji X30 is an excellent premium compact digital camera. It delivers the same great image-quality and speed as its predecessor with refined controls and a very welcome EVF. This viewfinder is absolutely class-leading and gives the X30 a nice boost...
