Fujifilm FinePix XP80

The FinePix XP80 from Fujifilm is a nice point-n-shoot camera that will work well for the beginning photographer seeking waterproof capabilities in a simplistic model. This camera's images are surprisingly sharp for such a basic camera with a small...

Images are sharper versus other waterproof point-n-shoots ; Shutter lag is minimal ; Numerous burst mode options available, as well as an interval shooting mode ; Can survive a drop of 5.8 feet ; Works in water depth of up to 50 feet ; Built-in...

Minimal manual control options ; Image quality suffers in low light with noise at low ISO settings ; Camera's performance speed suffers in low light too ; Images shot in automatic mode are slightly off with color and exposure ; Limited optical zoom...

The XP80 is the latest “rugged” camera from Fujifilm, which boasts waterproofing down to 15 metres, shock proofing from 1.75m, freeze proofing down to -10 degrees Celsius as well as dust and sandproofing. It is designed as a family and adventure...

The Fujifilm FinePix XP80 is a good all round compact camera, which is ideal if you’re the type of person who likes to go on adventure holidays - or, alternatively if you’re just looking for something which will be able to withstand average family life.

Fujifilm XP80 Review

Fuji has announced the FinePix XP80, a successor to its vibrant and rugged XP70. Deemed the "toughest camera yet for extreme weather protection," the XP80 keeps the same shockproof and waterproof form factor as its predecessor while stepping up its game.

The Fujifilm FinePix XP80 begins shipping March of 2015 for a suggested list price of US$229.95 and will be available in Blue, Yellow and Graphite color options.

Fujifilm FinePix XP80 Review

The FujiFilm FinePix XP80 isn't the greatest underwater camera in our comparison, but it has its definite upsides. The camera is rated to go down 50 feet underwater without damage. It is also rated to withstand a fall from 5.8 feet – both of which are...

This camera is rated to withstand a drop from 5.8 feet.

The picture quality is average.

This camera has good underwater and shockproof ratings, but the image quality is average.

Fuji XP80 review

Rugged family holiday camera with a range of creative functions

Rugged credentials ; Built in Wi-Fi ; Creative functions

Not great in low light ; Only a 5x optical zoom ; Small LCD screen

A simple camera designed not to be taken too seriously and used on family and adventure holidays. Ideal if you like to shoot underwater, at the beach and on the slopes.

Fujifilm FinePix XP80 Review

We test the waterproof and tough Fujifilm FinePix XP80 with built in Wi-Fi and remote control.

Good colour and exposure ; 1080p video with sound and zoom ; 10fps continuous shooting ; 2.7inch screen ; 5x optical zoom lens ; Waterproof, dust proof, shock proof and freezeproof ; Wi-Fi connectivity with remote control

Poor image quality ; High miss rate ; Short battery life

The Fujifilm FinePix XP80 has a good number of features considering the relatively low price for a waterproof compact camera, including Wi-Fi with remote control, fullHD video, and 10fps continuous shooting. However, we found image quality...

Decent image quality for a water/shock proof

For a water/shock proof camera, the image quality is decent. Of course it can be better but for the price, its pretty good.
