Leica T (Typ 701) review

There are more affordable and even better options than the Leica T, but you aren't buying just any ordinary camera.

The Leica T, like many Leica products, can be a mixed bag. It raises expectations about unprecedented quality with its shiny metal body and high retail price, but quickly disappoints when it comes to the most basic functions such as the lack of an...

Leica T (Typ 701)

The Leica T (Typ 701) features a stunning aluminum unibody design, but it's not as robust as its price tag implies.

Stunning design. Integrated Wi-Fi. Big 3.7-inch touch-screen LCD. Customizable interface. 16GB internal storage. Supports in-camera charging and includes external charger. Come with Adobe Lightroom license.

Expensive. Slow autofocus. No Android companion app. Proprietary strap system.

Conclusions The Leica T (Typ 701) is absolutely beautiful, and I applaud the company for its forward-thinking design. Once I got used to the customizable menus, dual control dials, and touch-screen interface, I found that taking control of the camera...

Leica Summicron-T 23mm f/2 ASPH.

The Leica Summicron-T 23mm f/2 ASPH. is very compact and captures a lot of light, but you need to stop it down a bit for true edge-to-edge clarity.

Compact. Wide aperture. No distortion. Focuses to 1 foot

A little soft at f/2. Maximum aperture narrows at close focus distance. Expensive. Some color fringing when shooting JPG

Leica chose its first prime lens for the T mirrorless camera system wisely. The Leica Summicron-T 23mm f/2 ASPH. ($1,850) matches the field of view and light gathering capability of the quintessential Leica optic, the 35mm Summicron that has adorned...

Leica T swings above par but is handicapped by price (hands-on)

The Leica T gets a lot of things right, from its dapper design down to the razor-sharp kit lens. It's an ideal entry-point into the premium world of Leica.

Leica T Review

The Leica T is a new mirrorless compact system camera with an APS-C sized 16.2 megapixel CMOS sensor. Manufactured from a single block of aluminium, the Leica T also offers an innovative touchscreen 3.7-inch display with 1.3 million pixels, built-in...

The Leica T is a beautifully designed, incredibly well-made interchangeable lens camera that's clearly targeted at a younger generation than the company's typical customer - think the son/daughter of a Leica M user, for example. With its Apple-like...

Camera Review: Leica's Mirrorless T (TYP 701)

Leica enters the mirrorless market with this snazzy metal marvel.

Snazzy aluminum unibody design; stealthy and inconspicuous to use; nice 3.7- inch touchscreen on back

Average image quality and speed; mediocre 18-56mm kit lens; expensive compared to other cameras in this category

Leica T camera

One of the most stylish, well designed cameras you will ever meet

Style ; Build quality ; Picture quality

Expensive camera ; Expensive lenses and accessories ; Wi-Fi didn't work for us

Leica's focus on creating a minimalist unit with a dominant touchscreen interface challenges us to re-think the way we interact with a camera's settings. For the most part, it works. You get used to this idea of on-screen control, and that's because...
