Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150

The Panasonic DMC-FZ150 CMOS-powered 24X superzoom is a replacement for the slightly unloved FZ100 and incorporates a lower-resolution 12MP sensor that the company says will outperform its predecessor's 14MP chip. The camera retains a 25-600mm...

Really useful 25-600mm (equivalent) lens range ; Very good JPEG image quality, with provision for shooting in Raw mode ; Lens impressively sharp with generally good sharpness at all focal lengths ; Effective image stabilization ; Good high ISO...

Slight tendency to highlight clipping in some situations ; EVF a little 'pokey' and prone to RGB tearing ; Noise-reduction takes the edge off fine detail above ISO 400 (but can be tweaked) ; High-quality video files are massive

THE FZ150 is a solid and capable superzoom camera that boasts impressive image quality considering it's 24X optical zoom range. Sharpness is high, aberrations are well-controlled, and its capable optical image stabilization system makes working at its...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 offers a long 24x zoom range, 1080p video recording, and fast continuous shooting. It's priced a little high when you compare it with competitors, but it's still a very capable camera.

Long 24x zoom range. Swiveling LCD. Fast continuous shooting. 1080p video capture. Hot shoe.

Pricey. Bulky. Images could be sharper. So-so low-light performance.

Performance and Conclusions Although the FZ150 isn't the fastest camera to start up and take a shot—its large lens has to extend a bit, which slows this process—it is able to rattle off shots with ease once it gets going. The camera takes a full two...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 (Black) review

There was one thing that kept the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 from earning a CNET Editors' Choice Award: photo quality. So when Panasonic announced that its successor, the FZ150, had a new imaging sensor and processor, I had high hopes for it.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 's lens, shooting options, and fast performance offer great shooting flexibility.

The FZ150's JPEG photos can look overprocessed when viewed at large sizes.

Hobbyists and enthusiasts who want a megazoom camera with a lot of control over final results should strongly consider the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150.

Speedier than its 5MP cousin, the DMC-F20. Leica 12X zoom lens with constant f/2.8 aperture and image stabilization. Very comfortable, SLR-like feel. Power feature set, lots of control over exposure.

Large and heavy for a superzoom. Poor video mode.

While the 4MP Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ15 can't quite match the 5MP DMC-FZ20 when it comes to image quality, it still takes good pictures, and its f/2.8 long zoom lens and short recycle times make this the best all-around superzoom when it comes to shooting

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150

Panasonic rethinks their high-end ultrazoom, returning the flagship to five-star status with a reduction in resolution that paradoxically boosts image quality. Easy to recommend.

Excellent 24x zoom that starts at 25mm; Solid build; Articulating LCD; Improved sensor and image processing; 12 fps continuous mode; Full HD video at 60p

Tends to blow out highlights; Tripod socket close to battery door; Incandescent white balance is a little warm

Lumix DMC-FZ150

A family portrait showing the FZ47 and FZ150. Note the extra zoom lever on the side of the FZ150 at right

Very good photo quality ; Monster 24X, 25 - 600 mm Leica lens ; Power OIS image stabilization, with "active" mode for movies ; 3-inch rotating LCD with 460,000 pixels, good outdoor/low light visibility ; Full manual controls with RAW support, numerous...

Tends to clip highlights ; Images have yellow/brownish cast in artificial light; still no fluorescent white balance option ; Some redeye; no removal tool in playback mode ; Long write times after a burst containing RAW photos is taken ; Rainbow effect...

In conclusion, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 is a very good super zoom camera, and one that should be high on your shopping list. If you're a beginner who wants something simple to take photos and movies with, it can do that with ease. Enthusiasts will...
