Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS85

A $120 point-and-shoot camera, the 8-megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS85 has a surprisingly rich feature set and good image quality. Its Leica lens offers a 4X optical zoom, from 33mm to 132mm.

Good stabilization and image quality ; Convenient Intelligent Auto mode button

Hard to operate with one hand ; Plasticky build and flimsy doors

For a bargain-bin camera, the Lumix DMC-LS85 offers nice stabilization, good images, a Leica lens, and great scene modes.

Review: Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS85 digital camera

For a bargain-bin camera, the Lumix DMC-LS85 offers nice stabilization, good images, a Leica lens, and great scene modes

You can also select your scene mode manually, and there are 21 settings to choose from in the LS85’s menu. Old standards such as Portrait, Landscape, Sports, and Candlelight are in the mix, but there are also some unique modes, such as Aerial Photo...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS85 review

Panasonic's camera division is on a roll, picking up two awards in last month's Labs test and two more this month. The LS85 couldn't be more different to the GH1 but it's just as impressive.

The LS85 is just what we look for in a low-cost camera, cutting back on frivolous extras but delivering on design, performance and image quality.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS85 review

Like its older (and more expensive) sibling, the Lumix DMC-FS25, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS85 has a convenient Intelligent Auto (iA) button on its top, next to the shutter button. Pressing the iA button turns on various in-camera optimisation features,...

The all-business Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS85 certainly won't induce awe-inspired gasps with its plain looks and plasticky feel, but for a very affordable camera - indeed, one with a rock-bottom price - it does offer a stunning set of features. If you've...

Panasonic DMC LS85

This is a very good snapshot digital camera. Picture quality is good and the camera is also easy to use. This camera is well worth a close look.

Ease of use - extra zoom at lower resolutions - picture quality - value for money - features for the price

Very slow when flash is being used

The Panasonic Lumix DMC LS85 is well worth considering if you are in the market for a cheaper digital camera. It handles my tests well and also scores highly for ease of use.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS85

One button rules them all with the LS85; the intelligent Auto mode is a beginner's first step to professional-quality photos

The intelligent Auto mode is a beginner's dream, resulting in great-quality photos, while the scene mode explanations show the user exactly how they're achieving those shots

poor product description leads to return

Wasted my time ordering and recieveing this only to have to return it. Luckily newegg was ok about it, but I'm still dsappointed not to have the product when I wanted it.

Pink which my wife wanted

spec page listed Li-Ion rechargeable battery. A pre-requesite for us as my wife is horrible about remembering spare batteries and Li-Ion batteries in previous cameras tended to last a LONG time
