Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 squeezes a 20x zoom lens into its compact body. It isn't the fastest camera, and the lens lags behind the competition in sharpness, but it does well at higher ISOs and has a built-in GPS.

Long zoom lens. GPS. Good high ISO performance. 1080p60 video capture.

Softer images. Slow to start and shoot.

Performance and Conclusions It takes about 2.3 seconds for the ZS20 to start and take a shot, fires off a burst of 10 photos in just over a second, and records a respectable 0.3-second shutter lag. If you don't mind a slower burst rate, you can shoot...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 Review: 20X Pocket Megazoom Loaded With Options

For a pocketable camera, the 14-megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 ($350 as of May 15, 2012) is about as loaded as they come. The trait that will jump out at you--literally, if you're facing the camera--is the Lumix ZS20's 20X-optical-zoom lens (24mm...

20X-optical-zoom lens (24mm to 480mm) ; Manual controls and wide range of shooting modes ; Smooth 1080p video ; Very fast autofocus ; In-camera GPS

Control scheme can be confusing sometimes ; Image quality is a bit disappointing

The Lumix ZS20 is a top-tier travel camera, thanks to a far-reaching zoom lens, built-in GPS with mapping, extensive shooting options, and good (but not great) image and video quality.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 (Lumix DMC-TZ30)

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 is a compact travel zoom camera with a pretty elaborate GPS setup. Not only does the ZS20 log your location, it also has a database of a million landmarks and maps of ninety countries. The ZS20 also packs a new 20X zoom...

Good photo quality (though see below) ; Packs a 20X Leica lens in a pretty compact package ; Power OIS" image stabilization, with "active" mode for movies ; 3-inch touchscreen LCD with 460,000 pixels, great outdoor/low light visibility ; Built-in GPS...

While improved over the ZS10, photos still have too much noise, even at ISO 100 ; Tends to clip highlights ; Strong redeye; no removal tool in playback mode ; Images have yellow/brownish cast in artificial light ; No RAW, manual focus, or WB bracketing...

The Lumix DMC-ZS20 is arguably the most full-featured travel zoom on the market. Its Intelligent Auto mode and decent set of manual controls combined with an elaborate GPS setup and 1080/60p movie mode make it a traveller's delight. Unfortunately its...

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS20 review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 is a pretty remarkable point-and-shoot camera. Its Leica lens starts off at an ultrawide-angle 24mm and zooms in to 480mm. That's an incredible range for a lens in a body that's just 1.1 inches thick. That's actually...

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 has an excellent design and feature set, including an ultrawide-angle 20x zoom lens, GPS, and semimanual and manual shooting modes, as well as fast shooting performance and improved low-light photo quality from previous...

Using all of the ZS20's high-performance features, such as its near-pointless touch screen, can really cut into battery life. Also, photos are noisy and soft when viewed at 100 percent.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20's 20x zoom lens might be the main attraction, but the camera is all-around excellent.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS20 Preview

The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS20 is one of two brand new ZS-series cameras announced today. It costs about $70 more than the ZS15, but has a larger 14.1 megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor, a longer 20x optical zoom lens, full 1080/60p HD video recording...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ30 Review

The Lumix DMC-TZ30 (also known as the DMC-ZS20 in the USA) is Panasonic's premium travel-zoom compact camera, featuring a 20x 24-480mm lens, 14.1 megapixel high sensitivity MOS sensor, 1080p Full HD movies at 50/60fps, 3 inch touch-sensitive LCD screen...

Panasonic's new travel-zoom compact camera is now stepping on the toes of more modest ultra-zoom bridge models, cramming a 20x zoom lens into a relatively tiny body. In many ways the DMC-TZ30 is also a big improvement on last year's TZ20 model, with a...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20

Though it has an impressive set of features and a presumably decent 20x zoom lens, the Panasonic ZS20 again disappoints in the image quality department. It's better than its predecessor, but not by enough.

Very long zoom lens; Full HD video; Great grip; Built-in GPS; HDR and Handheld Night Shot modes

Poor image quality due to excessive noise suppression; Flash too close to the grip; No GPS logging; Battery only charges in the camera; Limited touchscreen

Pro: Con: Megazoom range in a compact camera Nano surface coated optics Full HD video at up to 60p Great grip for a small camera GPS location recording Touchscreen controls help in darkness HDR and Hand Held Night Shot Scene modes PASM exposure modes...

Digital Camera Review: Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20

Balancing light weight and a small body with excellent optics is one of Panasonic's strong points, and this Lumix model is the perfect example. The ZS20 14.1MP camera sports a 20x zoom Leica lens that will get you good, stable close up shots from far...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ30 - Long Range View

The successor to the popular TZ20, the TZ30 is Panasonic's next travel-zoom compact camera. Sporting a 20x optical zoom lens and a 3-inch touchscreen, will this 14-megapixel camera earn a permanent spot in your travel duffel bag? Join us as we find out.

20x Leica optical zoom lens ; Good image stabilization performance even at telephoto end ; Has PASM modes ; Built-in GPS receiver ; 3-inch touchscreen

LCD screen quality isn't the best ; Images a bit soft even at low ISOs ; Noise is a problem from ISO 400 ; Small buttons

Despite its very small size, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ30 features a very useful 20x optical zoom lens, making it an ideal camera to bring on your travels. Controls are generally well-thought out, though we feel the mode dial is too small, and should...
