Sony a6300 review

The A6300 demonstrates why Sony continues to dominate in the mirrorless camera market

Has Sony created another hit? The A6300 is simply one of the best, well-rounded mirrorless cameras we’ve tested to date, so we would say, yes. Sony currently dominates the mirrorless camera market, and with continual product offerings like the A6300,...

Sony's A6300 is a step forward for mid-tier mirrorless cameras

If you're looking for a mirrorless camera that's not too expensive, the A6300 is a great choice.

Sony Alpha A6300 (body only)

It's priced at $1,000 (£1,000, AU$1,700) for the body, and $1,150 (£1,100) for a kit with the 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 power-zoom lens. There doesn't seem to be any official kit pricing in Australia, but I've seen it for AU$1,800.

The Sony A6300 delivers class-leading photo and video quality, plus good performance and features for shooting action.

Myriad small annoyances mar the experience and it has the trademark poor battery life of Sony's A series. Plus it really could use in-body image stabilization.

A respectable update to its very popular A6000 mirrorless interchangeable-camera model, the Sony A6300 remains great but also retains some of the drawbacks of its predecessor.

Sony A6300 review

The Sony A6300 experience, as with many of its A series interchangeable-lens camera (ILC) models, feels like soaring through the sky one minute only to smack into a window the next. It flies with a beefed-up autofocus system, excellent 4K video (with...

Sony Alpha 6300

The Sony Alpha 6300 adds weather-sealing and 4K video to the popular midrange Alpha 6000. It's the premium mirrorless camera that Sony photographers have been waiting for.

Quick autofocus. 11.1fps burst shooting. 4K video capture. Crisp EVF. Tilting rear display. Strong high ISO performance. Built-in flash. Wi-Fi with NFC. Weather-sealed body.

Omits touch-screen support. Lacks in-body stabilization. Dense menu system. Some apps must be purchased. Doesn't include external charger.

Conclusions The Alpha 6300 is another strong, forward-thinking mirrorless camera from Sony. Its 24-megapixel image sensor offers plenty of resolution, performs well at higher ISOs, and can capture video at 4K resolution. It also houses an autofocus...

Sony Alpha a6300 Review

The Sony a6300 is the company's latest mid-range mirrorless camera. Like the a6000 it still offers 24MP resolution but the autofocus ability, video capability, build quality, viewfinder resolution and price have all been increased.

Sony A6300 Review

The Sony A6300 replaces the two year old A6000 as Sony's premium APS-C Alpha offering. The A6300 retains a similar outward appearance to its predecessor, although the new camera does feature full weather sealing against dust and moisture ingress. But...

Sony A6300 Review

The Sony A6300 serves as the follow-up to one of the most popular cameras in recent years, the A6000. Given the predecessor's top marks, it's a tough act to follow. Sony's pulled it off, though, packing in so many new features and performance...

Excellent image quality; Improved high-ISO performance; Better JPEG quality; Fast autofocus; Very good subject tracking with real-time live view feature; All-magnesium body construction; 4K video

Slow buffer clearing (no UHS-II support); No touchscreen, Clunky menus; Wi-Fi can be a bit frustrating to use
