Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX30V

With its Cyber-shot DSC-HX30V, Sony packs a long 20x zoom lens, Wi-Fi, and GPS into one decidedly svelte camera. It's one of the more expensive compact superzoom models you'll find, but all those features along with high performance warrant the price.

Sharp images. Good high ISO performance. Wi-Fi. GPS. Long zoom range. Shoots stills while recording video

Expensive

The HX30V is one of the faster compact superzooms that we've tested. It starts and shoots in about 1.5 seconds and delivers a shutter lag that is very close to zero, which is a boon for candid and action photography. The camera grabs a 10 shot burst at...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX30V review

Sony's Cyber-shot HX9V has long been the most popular camera on CNET, and for good reason. It has a nice lens, great shooting options, and fast performance, and it takes good photos and video to boot. Its successor, the HX30V, is pretty much more of...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX30V has excellent photo and video quality for its class, fast shooting performance, and plenty of shooting options for every kind of user.

The HX30V is expensive, especially compared with competing models. It's not always the easiest camera to use and the feature set is so deep it might be too much for some users.

The feature-rich Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX30V has a great mix of speed and photo quality.

Sony Cyber-shot HX30V

Sony's HX30V performs well, but there are better options out there for the price.

The HX30V doesn’t lag behind the competition, but it doesn’t do much to rise above its peers, either.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX30V

The HX30V is Sony's high-end travel zoom camera, and comes with the same lens and essentially the same feature set as the less expensive HX20V. A 20x zoom fits in a pretty small body that, with its 18 megapixel CMOS sensor, should perform well in low...

"Great quality, ultra-zoom, and not heavy."

In summary, the Sony HX30V is a great camera but with a bit of flaws when using it in detail. With a price of $3290HKD (424USD), it is considered quite cheap compared to many other cameras in Hong Kong. Though this camera isn't the best camera with...
