We're astounded by the lack of multimedia messaging, but the Sonim XP3 Quest should withstand most torture tests.
Extremely rugged and durable ; offers GPS support ; decent call quality
Lacks multimedia messaging ; speakerphone calls were average

Samsung's Beat DJ sports some interesting and well-implemented features, but the user interface isn't uniformly polished and the sound quality isn't all we'd hoped for. A beautiful AMOLED touchscreen, however, makes it a decent twist on a standard ...
Bright AMOLED screen ; expandable memory ; innovative user interface for the DJ app ; customizable home screen with widgets ; standard 3.5mm headphone jack
Inconsistent user interface ; DJ app will be pointless for most people ; no Wi-Fi or GPS ; poor music quality for a music-phone
The Beat DJ includes Bang & Olufsen audio gubbins inside, but we're not bedazzled by names and were slightly disappointed with the phone's sound quality. We compared it to a SanDisk Sanza Fuze MP3 player using a pair of Sennheiser CX 300-II earbuds. ...

The Viewty Smart is a touchscreen phone that packs a reasonable amount of features to keep most people entertained. It's just not competent as an imaging device.
Smart design ; spectacular user interface visuals ; support for Microsoft Exchange ; 1.5GB onboard memory ; HSDPA ; Wi-Fi ; Office document reader
Camera lens prone to fingerprint smudges ; no 3.5mm audio jack ; noisy images
The Viewty Smart doesn't come with a 3.5mm audio jack. Instead, the proprietary port takes care of the bundled headset and cable connection to the PC. Elsewhere, you can find the usual assortment of power/hold key, volume control, camera shutter, ...

Quite possibly one of the most basic handsets we've seen, the CP09 manages to impress with a few thoughtful features for the elderly.
Large keypad ; torchlight function ; built-in FM radio receiver ; loud onboard speakers ; 3.5mm audio jack ; dedicated SOS button
Slippery chassis ; side buttons could be more defined ; loud volume a tad jarring ; spotty reception
Colored markings on the slider keys with embossed symbols would also have been great, instead of having these blend in with the color of the handset. The CP09 is also available in conventional black and tacky (yikes) gold. The build quality is ...

LG Watch Phone (GD910) - Get our early impressions of this timepiece that does voice and video calls. -
Small and looks like a watch ; performs like a phone ; has Bluetooth, VGA camera, capacitive touchscreen ; MP3 playback ; basic organizer features ; includes Bluetooth headset
Small display makes it hard to type anything with onscreen keypad ; doesn't stay firmly on wrist ; expensive ; Bluetooth supports only HSP profile ; bad onboard mic placement
The leather strap is slightly stiff but easy enough to adjust to fit our wrist, although it took some trial and error with the clasp mechanism to get the fit right. The build quality overall is very solid

At this low price we can live without the bells and whistles of the more expensive phones, but we can't recommend a phone with poor call quality.
Fantastic touchscreen display ; decent performance ; makes a good media player
Poor call quality ; no 3.5mm headphone socket ; no memory card included
Names aside, the Preston is a phone with a compelling sales pitch attached. With full touchscreen input and an US$384 price tag, the Preston stands out amongst its brethren in the Icon range as the cheapest, if the lowliest in the specs department

The SX1 IS is really the ultimate bridge between a digital still and digital video camera. If you can bear to part with the cash, you won't be disappointed with the superb HD-video and image quality.
Great image quality; full-HD video recording; 20x optical zoom; dSLR feature set
No external microphone input
Though the SX1 IS may look similar to the SX10 IS when you place them side by side, don't be fooled--this is a distinctly different camera on the inside

Despite minor flaws, we were captivated by the incredible image quality from the F200EXR, considering it is just a point-and-shoot. By far one of the best midrange compacts we've tested.
Good quality images even at high ISO; reliable automatic EXR mode switches between different settings accurately; wide dynamic range
Boring design; limited manual exposure function; no HD video-recording feature
The design of the F200EXR remains the same as its predecessor, the F100fd. We wonder if this is a template which Fujifilm is drafting onto each of its flagship shooters. With its boring black (or silver) casing and slightly pudgy footprint, it ...
