Canon PowerShot SD960 IS (Gold)

The Canon PowerShot SD960 IS is a follow-up of sorts to the very popular SD880 IS featuring the same 28mm wide-angle lens with a 4x zoom, but this model jumps to 12 megapixels from 10. It can capture 720p HD video clips and has Canon's Digic 4 image...

Small; good lens specs; excellent photo color, exposure.

Wide-screen LCD; odd controls or lack thereof; purple fringing in photos.

While its design is less than thrilling, the Canon PowerShot SD960 IS still has great photo quality to fall back on.

Canon PowerShot SD960 IS

The 12.1-megapixel PowerShot SD960 IS ($329.99 list) is Canon's first, and the only model in its latest Elph line to get a widescreen LCD. This slick little point-and-shooter still gives you the option to take pictures in the traditional 4:3 aspect...

Fast. Captures HD video. 16:9 LCD. HDMI-out. Long battery life. Produces less noise in images at ISO 1600 than its predecessor did

Pricey. Quality problems at outer edges of images

The 16:9 LCD on the Canon SD960 IS lets you frame your shots to match the format of HDTV and widescreen laptop displays, and it records excellent HD video. Unfortunately, its price and some image-quality issues prevent it from being a point-and-shoot...

Canon PowerShot SD960 IS First Impressions Digital Camera Review

Last week at the PMA (Photo Marketing Association) trade show, we got a sneak peak at one of Canon's upcoming additions to their Digital ELPH series: the Canon PowerShot SD960 IS. The small, curvaceous point-and-shoot captures 12.1-megapixel stills and...

The Canon PowerShot SD960 IS Digital ELPH is a soft, curvy little point-and-shoot that's likely to appeal to camera users with an eye toward ease-of-use and uncluttered design. There aren't a lot of manual controls and the camera does seem stripped...

Canon PowerShot SD960 IS Review

At first glance, the Canon PowerShot SD960 IS is your typical point-and-shoot, featuring the easy-to-use controls, smooth navigation, and basic operations most casual shooters expect.

Well-built and very stylish ; Exposure settings work accurately and well ; Active Display technology ; HD video ; Consistent and fast autofocus ; Proficient ISO performance ; High-res 2.8 inch LCD

Overly saturated default picture settings ; Image quality when magnified shows considerable grain and noise ; Smudge Proof" LCD attracts lots of smudges ; HD video quality isn't great

So is the SD960 IS worth considering? With a street price of $330, a 12.1-megapixel sensor, and 4X optical zoom range all bundled in a compact and rugged form factor, this camera proved to be a capable point-and-shoot with plenty of features for the...

Good camera - takes great pictures

Basically, if you're looking for a camera that has different settings (Color Accents, Sunsets, low lights, night, portrait, snow, foliage, etc....many more), easy to use, small and easy to carry around in your purse, then this is a great camera. As...

The size - The color options - The different features (Especially low light, sunset, and color accent) - Being able to use the camera without reading through a book of instructions - Simple but still quite a few options

Fireworks settings - does not work very well

Way too Many Blurry Pics - Video over-processed

Great for ebay shots of non-moving items under consistent lighting conditions - otherwise this camera is pretty much useless. Stationery subjects allow the shooter much more time to fiddle with settings so if that's what you shoot, go for it!. The...

Small, light weight, miniature, tiny little battery

Too small, too light weight, too miniature, too small a battery, blurry images, weak flash, extremely long delay between shots. Video is over-processed and too light/washed out. Not sure if 12.1 MP is a good size

Good photos, but horrible user interface.."

I've been buying canon power shot cameras for...

Decent low light performance

Horrible interface; very difficult to change photo modes, I have not yet (after almost a year) figured out how to look over my already taken photos. It always goes into crazy "slide show" modes where the photos last only seconds, or zoom modes. Gah
