Disappointing lens specs; mixed performance; high-resolution sensor adds little benefit; no HD video
The Canon PowerShot SD990 IS is a fine ultracompact camera, but its price-to-feature benefits are questionable.
Top Elph for the moment, the Canon PowerShot SD990 IS has the highest...
As a fan of Canon's Digital Elph cameras, I was a bit disappointed by the current flagship model of the series, the 14.7-megapixel PowerShot SD990 IS. That may be surprising, given that this camera dominates most other point-and-shoot cameras in terms ...
Extensive manual controls ; Optical viewfinder in addition to LCD
Lacks a true wide-angle lens ; Expensive
Despite the improvements on its predecessor, I can't help but feel that Canon dropped the ball a bit with the SD990, especially when price is factored in. Unless you simply can't live without an optical viewfinder or extensive manual controls, I see ...

Superior build quality, styling ; Quick Shot mode makes OVF shooting logical ; Decent all around performance ; Sensible feature set offers the stuff you need without the bloat
High-res sensor muddies up images ; Lens performance, specs only adequate ; LCD should be bigger for this price ; Too much money for too few bells and whistles

Great camera. I travel all over and love pho...
Love the camera! Had it for over a year. Takes incredible pictures. have had many SD series Canon Cameras. This is by far the best. Has great manual functions, can set up on tripod and have shutter stay open up to 15 sec. Crystal Clear
Only con I have on this camera is action photos aren't the best. This camera needs to focus then shoot. Not for action photography
great pictures
too complicated and hard to get out of some features
