Canon Digital IXUS i7 zoom

When you think of ultra-compacts, you think of slim, pocketable cameras. The Canon IXUS i7 breaks the norm and comes up with a cute candy bar model that boasts a number of impressive new features. But before we get there, a little more on its looks.

It may sound like the camera has a lot of negative points, but the fact is that none of them are significant enough to overcome the good points. In the end, the IXUS i7 is as small a cell phone and clicks better than a lot of cameras in its range. It...

Effective face detection technology ; Slim stainless steel body ; Nicely organized menus ; Good movie mode ; Unlimited burst mode ; Wide ISO range ; Fun My Colors effects

Small LCD screen ; LCD collects fingerprints ; Non-intuitive navigational/zoom control ; Tiny ineffective flash ; Small 2.4x lens with insensitive control ; Slow burst mode ; 190-shot battery

Canon PowerShot SD40 (Noble Blue)

That's the case with the Canon PowerShot SD40. Canon took its supersmall PowerShot SD30, dropped in a 7-megapixel sensor and new image processor, threw in a few handy accessories, and called it a day.

Small and stylish; comes with dock and remote.

Terrible image noise; remote control is almost superfluous.

Its small size makes it an attractive pocket camera, but its speed and image quality issues are too great to ignore.

Canon PowerShot SD40 Digital ELPH Digital Camera - Express Review

Canon designers have intended the ELPH line to do double duty as a fashion accessory since these petite models started appearing in the hands -- and around the necks -- of the style-conscious ten years ago. These days, there are few cameras more...

has 6.3 megapixels and can detect up to nine faces in a frame, like the SD40. The FinePix sells for much less, though. This cool feature isn't the only thing the Digital Elph has to offer. It has ISO sensitivity up to 1600 for better pictures in low...

Canon PowerShot SD40

The Canon SD40 Digital ELPH is the latest addition to their candy bar-sized lineup of cameras. Despite being tiny, the SD40 packs Canon's latest DIGIC III processor with face detection and a 7 megapixel sensor behind its lens. Still, some things just...
