Canon PowerShot A800 (Silver)

Editors' note: Several design elements, features, and shooting options are identical between Canon's PowerShot A800 and the PowerShot A495 we reviewed earlier, so parts of this review are taken from that one.

The Canon PowerShot A800 is a no-frills point-and-shoot that takes AA-size batteries. It's easy to use and produces nice photos despite its low price.

The A800 has slow shooting performance and a low-resolution LCD that's very difficult to see in bright sunlight.

Considering its bargain price, you'll get excellent photos from the Canon PowerShot A800. Just don't expect anything more than that and you'll be fine.

Canon PowerShot A800

This pocket camera comes with compromises, but a $90 price tag and dead-simple operation help balance the Canon PowerShot A800's lack of optical image stabilization and HD-video capture. It also delivers good, clean, sharp images, along with solid...

Inexpensive under-$100 price. Sharp photos. Simple to operate

Lacks optical image stabilization. No high-def video capture. Low-resolution LCD

It is cheap, handy and excellent picture quality for the price.

The low-end video quality sucks.

Great for an entry level digital camera.

Another excellent product from Canon. Its a great one for first-timers especially.

Ease of use; fast operation:the controls are very responsive; good for both the novice and the enthusiast

No image stabilization for still pictures, but considering the price, it can be overlooked

Canon Camera

I returned this camera, because it did not work. The memory card could not be removed.I sent it back twice, and still could not remove it.

Beginner's impressions

This is the first digital camera I've used, I've only been using it for a couple of weeks, and I didn't know what to expect from a $90 camera (I later noticed Amazon also offers it in black for $75). It seems a very good camera, but the non-intuitive...

Decent camera for everyday use, nothing fancy

This is your basic digital camera. Very easy to use and lightweight. Pictures are very average, but for a camera under $100, it is just right. Not many options that come along. I bought this camera because I had many upcoming vacations. I also bought a...
