Canon PowerShot Elph 310 HS (Purple)

The Canon PowerShot Elph 310 HS is sort of a misfit camera. Its 8x zoom lens isn't quite long enough to attract people looking to improve on an older ultracompact camera, and the lens' other qualities aren't good enough for photographers who value a...

The Canon PowerShot Elph 310 HS ' photo quality is excellent for its class and it has a good assortment of shooting options.

The 310 HS has a relatively short battery life and its autofocus in Smart Auto mode can be hit or miss.

Snapshooters wanting better photo quality than their smartphone and an 8x zoom lens in a tiny package should certainly consider the Canon PowerShot Elph 310 HS.

"Beautiful, what I expect from Canon. Zoom is great!"

Zoom, Canon picture quality (there is still nothing else like it), and 1080p video

Can hear the lens zoom while on video.

"Will return this camera and go back to my SD800 IS Elph"

If this is supposed to be an improvement, it's not.

Slim design; higher megapixels; automatically adjusts to close-up shots

No view finder (difficult to use display in sunlight without glasses); cannot remove media card and use in card reader; movies saved in .mov format - can only be viewed using Canon software. QuickTime distorts color and is choppy.

"This camera fits a niche but can do more too"

I really needed a camera with decent flexibility and light weight that I could take for hiking and other outdoor sports (let's see if I can avoid dropping it in water!). And, this may sound silly, but I like blue and expect the color to be easier to...

light weight, fast start up, great images, flexibility with longer zoom, it's blue!

lack of certain manual controls - aperture and shutter priority

"Great little camera, excellent quality and features,"

If your looking for a great camera this is it, at any size. I researched many point and shoot cameras and this one came out on top, its features size and style are excellent. You get what you pay for and in this case its great quality, ease of use and...

Quality, features, ease of use and portability. You can bring this to a club a concert or any event and the results will be fantastic. Great bang for your buck. Remember there are deals out there just take your time and look.

Nothing, just too nice and don't drop it!

"Very slight noticeable improvements to Elph 300"

An all-camera site ranks this as the top camera in the 200-300 price range, whereas the Elph 300 gets no mention. Nonetheless, Cnet's 4-star rating for a camera line (Canon Elph) that normally receive 3 and one-half from the site might tell some...

Compactness, good images (a bit soft), 8 power lens

Added expense is hard to justify. Why not go a little higher and get the one the pros use--the S95?
