Canon PowerShot G11

The Canon G series range of cameras has been the forefront of the company's ability to make indispensible range of digital cameras. Their overall image quality can very well be compared to an entry level DSLR. The Canon PowerShot G11 is more than just...

The Canon PowerShot G11 is by far the most consistent digital camera you can get your hands on. However with a price tag of Rs 31,995 the G11 is definitely not for the faint of heart. But if you are planning to tread the path of photography then the...

Canon PowerShot G11

Canon's G-series of advanced point-and-shoot cameras have long held a place somewhere between small point-and-shoots and full-featured SLRs.

Very nice design ; Very good low light performance ; Very good image quality ; Great flip-out LCD screen

Lost some nice features from the G10 ; Rear buttons too easy to accidentally push

The G11 will appeal to point-and-shoot users who are ready for more power, control, and quality, but don't want to carry around a camera with the bulk of an SLR.

Canon PowerShot G11

As predictable as the co-eds which annually flock to Cancun during Spring Break, Canon updates its top-of-the-line G series compact digital camera every year. And why not: Enthusiasts consistently rave about the G Series, as does DT, given that this...

Very good picture quality ; Wide-angle 5x zoom ; Quality adjustable LCD screen ; Optical image stabilization

Expensive ; Slow at only 1.1 fps ; Distorted viewfinder ; No HD video

If you can overlook the G11’s flaws—which are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things—it’s a fine choice.

Canon PowerShot G11

It really feels as though Canon's trying to recapture the past, or at least make up for some possibly poor decisions it's made over the past few years. For instance, though in many ways it bears little resemblance to the five-year-old PowerShot G6,...

Optical viewfinder; articulated LCD; very good photo quality for its class

Shot-to-shot performance still a little sluggish; no HD video

Though it doesn't offer the whizziest new features like an interchangeable lens or a tiny size, the Canon PowerShot G11 still delivers a good shooting experience for photography enthusiasts. Plus it's the only model that includes an optical viewfinder.

Canon PowerShot G11 Review

The Powershot G series has represented a fairly formidable presence at the top of the compact camera tree. From a keen photographer point-of-view, there's little on the market that can match its mixture of zoom range, lens flexibility, build quality...

Very good all-round image quality (albeit without the G10's excellent low ISO resolution) ; Generally good high-ISO performance for a compact camera, surprisingly good high ISO raw output ; Flexible lens range with effective image stabilization ; Very...

Rather slow lens (in terms of aperture) by traditional G series standards ; Movies limited to VGA resolution ; High ISO images lose saturation and detail (and offer no control over noise reduction) ; Focus prone to hunting (and focus failure) in low...

The G11 is the latest in a well-established line of compact cameras aimed at enthusiasts and, with its large-bodied, retro styling it would appear to be just as aspirational at its predecessors. However, there's hardly a niche left in the camera market...

Canon PowerShot G11 Review

Canon's latest "flagship" PowerShot model, the G11 continues the traditions laid forth by its predecessors by offering top of the line features, along with extensive exposure control and access to various EOS accessories. At the same time, the G11 is...

Canon PowerShot G11 Digital Camera Review

The Canon PowerShot G11 takes great photos and has lots of controls, making it essentially an SLR in point-and-shoot clothing.

The Canon PowerShot G11 is a powerful camera that includes a lot of features. In many ways, it is more of an SLR camera than a point and shoot, as it includes the wider ISO range and more comprehensive manual controls that SLRs offer. And it puts these...

Canon PowerShot G11

If you're in the market for an enthusiast's compact digital camera, the PowerShot G11 makes a good choice. It produces good photos in Smart Auto mode, yet allows all the creative control you could want. It's a bit pricey - you can get an entry level...

), and while some of its specs seem like a step back, the changes are mostly for the better

Very good photo quality ; About a full stop advantage over most of the competition in low light ; Nice 5X zoom lens with 28 - 140 mm range (though a faster aperture range would've been nice) ; Optical image stabilization ; Well built, rangefinder-style...

Some useful features from the G10 are gone: remote capture, Auto ISO Shift, voice recording ; Continuous shooting mode won't win any awards for speed ; Movie mode is just VGA, with no use of optical zoom ; Ergonomics aren't great: cluttered buttons on...

When glance at the comparison table between the PowerShot G10 and G11 that I posted at the start of the review, you might think "wow, what a step down". While the G11 is missing some features from the G10 and has a smaller LCD and a slower burst mode,...
