Canon PowerShot SX10 IS

By (cnet.com)

Speedy performance with solid battery life ; articulating LCD ; comfortable shooting design ; can zoom during movie capture

No HD movie capture or raw support ; a few annoying design quirks ; frustratingly narrow lens aperture at maximum zoom

A nice evolution of the megazoom, the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS delivers some improvements over its predecessor and provides an attractive option for megazoom shooters.

Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Review

By Jeff Keller (dcresource.com)

The PowerShot SX10 IS ($399) is the follow-up to the Canon's enormously popular PowerShot S5 ultra zoom digital camera. The SX10 retains a the basic features of the S5 (big zoom lens, rotating LCD, manual controls, nice movie mode), and expands on ...

Very good photo quality (in good light) ; Whopping 20X optical zoom lens, with a 28 - 560 mm range ; Optical image stabilization ; Generally snappy performance ; Flip-out, rotating 2.5" LCD display ; good low light visibility ; Full manual controls, ...

Noise reduction visible at ISO 80 ; noticeable detail loss above ISO 200 in low light, ISO 400 in good light ; Occasional purple fringing ; Low light focusing could be better ; Doesn't support filters and conversion lenses like its predecessor ; Easy ...

, which is quite similar to the SX10, with the main differences being a larger LCD, faster continuous shooting, a 1080p movie mode, and an HDMI port. Why this model wasn't brought over to the States is unclear

"Great camera overall"

By varel1 (cnet.com)

Exellent zoom, features, excellent hd video

Date stamping absens is not really a cons, I would use it occasionally when taking family or a party photos. this is well solved with EXIF. Cons is that manufacturer does not inform users how to apply date/time later

By ldmoorer (cnet.com)

After the 2nd SX10 (Canon replaced the 1st on...

Feature packed and I love the flip display, also the SX10 took some awesome pictures when I was outside shooting (plenty of light). Also, I have to give BIG kudos to Canon support for working with me sadly to no avail on resolving my problem

Continued dismal performance of the SX10 in low light conditions
