First-rate photo quality; full set of manual exposure controls; optical image stabilization; electronic lens cover
Too easy to accidentally click instead of scroll when navigating; no optical zoom in movie capture
Though the Canon PowerShot SX100 produces excellent photos, other aspects of the camera--some performance issues and operational annoyances, to name two--dim its luster.
Canon's last-generation PowerShot S3 IS remains quite popular despite the...
Although the Canon PowerShot SX100 IS is a little bulky for a compact digital camera, it is still a great accessory to take on trips and family events. If you need a high-quality camera that features great enhancements (including face detection), then ...

The Canon PowerShot SX100 IS ($299) is a compact, low-cost ultra zoom camera. It offers many of the features found on the PowerShot S5 IS (see our review), for $100 less. The main differences between the SX100 and the S5 are with regard to lens power ...
Very good photo quality (though see issues below) ; Good value for the money ; 10X optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization ; Fairly sharp 2.5" LCD with good low light and outdoor visibility ; Full manual controls, plus plenty of scene modes ...
Noticeable detail loss from noise reduction above ISO 200 (in low light) and ISO 400 (in good light) ; highest sensitivities not usable ; Redeye a big problem (though you can remove it in playback mode) ; Weak, slow-to-charge flash ; No multi-point ...
Despite using half the number of batteries, the SX100's battery life numbers are just 10% below those of its big brother, the PowerShot S5. In the group as a whole, the SX100's battery life is about 15% above average

Great pictures in daylight
No Battery INDICATOR (that is for all canon cameras)
Excellent picture quality, macro setting, 10x zoom, easy to use, great battery life, takes pretty good videos for a digital camera, scroll wheel

The camera is technically a mixed bag. It does everything you want except if you bump it or get dust into it. Then you are in trouble
The lens error has occurred three times since Oct 2008. the first two times i was lucky and the tech guys fixed it. on the third time, the guys could not fix it. Compare this with my other Canon powershot A470 which continues to work just fine
Get in on the action with a 10x zoom lens. PowerShot SX100 IS keeps your subject in focus with Face Detection and optical Image Stabilizer. Clear, simple controls are easy and flexible for the whole family.
