Pentax Optio RS1500 Digital Camera Review

Pentax's Optio RS1500 is an inexpensive, entry-level point-and-shoot geared toward the first time camera owner. Inside this tiny package is one giant selling point: a surprisingly capable 14-megapixel sensor that produced images of a much higher...

Lightweight, and compact in size ; Left finger indent for better gripping ; Interchangeable front face plate "Skin" designs, and a variety to choose from ; Easy to understand button layout, and a lot of cartoon menu icons for preprogrammed exposure...

Weak Flash ; Zoom has less steps, making precise framing difficult ; Default setting of backlight timeout is too short ; Looks kind of cheap like a disposable camera

Pentax Optio RS1500 Review

The Pentax RS1500's most notable feature is its Clark Kent-like ability to change appearance quickly.

HD movie mode ; Stylish, customizable ; Compact and portable

Some overexposure ; No "one touch" video button ; Noise at mid to high ISO

ISO 800 images are very noisy, but they should be OK for lo-res email images and 3x5 inch or 4x6 inch prints. ISO 1600, 3200, and 6400 images are way too noisy to be useful for anything beyond record shots.

It's Just Alright.

While this camera takes a great picture, it isn't as small as the other one I had. Don't know if that matters. I'm really not thrilled with having to take the battery out to charge it. I find this to be a great inconvenience. OK, so I can carry extra...
