Casio Exilim EX-H20G

The 14-megapixel, 10X-optical-zoom Casio Exilim EX-H20G ($300 as of February 13, 2011) is a great little travel companion, thanks to well-implemented in-camera mapping and GPS features that make it a near-perfect pocket megazoom camera for your vacation.

Excellent in-camera GPS and mapping ; Ultra-wide-angle 24mm lens with 10X optical zoom ; Phenomenal battery life ; Green-screen-like Dynamic Photo feature ; Very good image quality in well-lit situations ; 360-degree Slide Panorama mode

No manual controls ; Mediocre macro mode ; Digital zoom only in video mode ; No burst mode

The vacation-friendly EX-H20G has a 10X-optical-zoom lens, great GPS features, and in-camera mapping. It's a top performer in daylight, but it lacks manual controls and a few key features.

Casio Exilim EX-H20G (with Hybrid GPS) camera review

Three months from introduction to on sale ain't too shabby in the camera world, and that's exactly what Casio has managed to accomplish with the intriguing new Exilim EX-H20G. We first spotted this point-and-shoot at Photokina in Germany, and now we've...

Impeccable Hybrid GPS geotagging system ; Super fast operation ; 10x zoom

Price ; A bit thick ; Hit-or-miss autofocus system

Casio Exilim EX-H20G First Impressions Review

The Casio Exilim EX-H20G (MSRP $349.99) will be hitting store shelves this November and capturing the attention of geotagging-hungry social media photography nuts… or so Casio would hope. Using an internal accelerometer and GPS tracking, the H20G can...

The Casio Exilim EX-H20G is a bit of a conundrum: it’s loaded with more “auto” modes than you would ever want and peppered with quite a few manual image adjustments as well. None of this makes for a particularly easy photography experience, but it's...

Very sharp Images. High-quality 3-inch LCD. 10x zoom. 24mm wide-angle Lens. Hybrid GPS can geotag your photos without a signal (even indoors)

Competitors offer greater optical zoom in similar size bodies. Limited HD video options

Review: Casio Exilim EX-H20G camera

The vacation-friendly EX-H20G has a 10x optical zoom lens, outstanding GPS features, and in-camera mapping. It's flat-out fun to use, but it lacks manual controls and low-light chops.

Although it performs well overall, a few key features are missing: It lacks manual controls, it omits a burst-shooting mode, and it doesn't shoot the sharpest photos in low light. All in all, however, the EX-H20G offers a lot more to like than to...

Casio Exilim EX-H20G Review

Casio first revealed its hybrid-GPS concept camera in the halls of the Las Vegas Convention center a year ago at CES 2010.

Good image quality ; Effective on-board GPS ; 10x optical zoom

Some ergonomic issues ; Expensive ; Slight overexposure

At the ISO 400 setting, noise levels are noticeably higher and there's a (barely) perceptible loss of minor detail. Above ISO 400 noise levels increase exponentially.

Casio EX-H20G

A pocket long zoom camera with an integrated GPS and maps, the Casio EXILIM Hi-Zoom EX-H20G is based around a 14.1-megapixel CCD image sensor behind an EXILIM Optical branded 10x zoom lens which features a generous 24mm wide-angle. Maximum aperture...

10x wide-angle zoom lens ; CCD-shift image stabilization ; 3-inch high-res LCD ; Hybrid GPS ; Detailed maps for 152 cities worldwide ; Nice fit and finish ; Sits well in pocket ; Dedicated Movie button ; Dynamic Photo function for overlaying moving...

Jumpy zoom lever ; Odd power-button placement ; Digital zoom only when recording video ; GPS coordinates aren't always correct with old firmware (be sure to update firmware to 1.02 or better) ; Some color blooming ; Very soft corners, especially on the...

Fortunately, firmware 1.02 is a big improvement, providing GPS data accurate enough to use with Google Maps. Confirm that you have at least this level of firmware on a new unit.
