Casio Exilim EX-Z35 (Pink)

There are generally two types of sub-$150 point-and-shoots: you either get good photo quality, but a bulky design and/or few features or you get mediocre photos, but a slim design and a better-than-basic feature set. The Casio Exilim EX-Z35 falls into...

Nice design and features for price.

Photo quality drops significantly above ISO 200; short battery life.

The Casio Exilim EX-Z35 is a cheap, but not cheap-looking ultracompact for decent photos and video in bright lighting.

Casio Exilim EX-Z3

Casio revealed their ultra-compact EXILIM EX-Z3 at CES2003 in January. The EX-Z3 is the first Casio digital camera to carrythe EXILIM name and have an optical zoom lens. The ultra-slim profileis partially thanks to the use of the same sliding lens...

Average three megapixel resolution ; Good reliable metering, if slightly conservative (worth checking live histogram) ; Low image noise at ISO 50 and 100 ; Excellent macro focus performance (for an ultra-compact) ; Wide range of preprogrammed best shot...

Lens softness, especially at corners of frame ; Blue and green color response darker than other cameras ; Color shift of overexposed reds ; No image parameter adjustment ; Blue cast to flash exposures ; Some chromatic aberrations visible (although...

The EXILIM EX-Z3 is a very capable ultra-compact digital camera. It's small dimensions and relatively light weight mean that it can live up to the EXILIM 'wearable' tag line. It's a camera design to immediately appeal, and the big two inch LCD monitor...

Casio EX-Z3

Casio adds the EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z3 to its EXILIM series of credit card-sized LCD digital cameras. Designed for the photography aficionado with an on-the-go lifestyle, the EX-Z3 features a CCD that boasts 3.2 megapixels, a high-performance 3X optical zoom...

The overall image quality is very good. The only weakness is in low light with no flash. Our non-flash test shot of the M&M Guy was too dark no matter what settings I used. The longest shutter speed is one second and even at ISO 200 it just wasn't eno

Digital Cameras - Casio Exilim EX-Z3 Digital Camera Review, Information, Specifications

The obvious competition for the Exilim Z3 is the Pentax Optio S, which I reviewed previously. I felt that the two cameras are likely to appeal to slightly different markets. The Z3 is more oriented to pure point & shoot novice users, with more scene...

Consumer electronics giant Casio has been one of the true innovators in the world of digital photography, although their role is seldom recognized as such by industry commentators and pundits. Their original QV-10 camera was the first to include an LCD...

Casio Exilim EX-Z33 – ultra-compact inexpensive camera

Casio Exilim EX-Z33 is not a compromising device like other cameras in the same range. It is an automatic one and provides more controls than other manufacturers give. The maximum video resolution is 640×480 and the Exilim EX-Z33 has one touch button...

Inexpensive and ultra-compact camera featured with sensor-shift image stabilization and one-button video capture

The shooting performance is slow. The battery life is short. The camera does not give good photos of moving objects

Casio Exilim EX-Z33 is an inexpensive, ultra-compact and attractive camera that captures good photos and record videos capable of online sharing. The camera is not perfect to capture the moving subjects. We would recommend to not to move camera while...

Casio Exilim EX-S3

For those who want more resolution, Casio recently introduced the EZ-Z4U model. It's also priced at $399, so I expect the Z3 to drop in price soon

Ultra-thin, all-metal body with 3X zoom lens ; Robust performance (except for AF) ; Large (though low resolution) LCD ; Manual white balance ; Handy dock for photo transfer / battery charging ; Lots of useful "best shot" (scene) modes ; Cool calendar,...

Images have "video capture" look to them ; Vignetting and blurry corners common in images ; LCD resolution is poor ; No AF illuminator means poor low light focusing ; Redeye ; Zoom and four-way buttons need more "play ; Average movie mode ; Sluggish...

If you want an ultra-compact camera like this, I'd go for the Pentax instead (in case you didn't notice). The only advantages of the Exilim EX-Z3 over the Optio S that I can think of are the larger LCD and cool Best Shot modes. In the end, you can't go...

Product Specifications

The EX-Z3 is a new model in Casio's acclaimed EXILIM range of card-sized LCD digital cameras. The new EXILIM EX-Z3 is the perfect camera for anyone with an appreciation of style, design and great functionality. With a resolution of 3.2 million pixels, the EX-Z3 is packed with new features and technical wizardry retaining many of the original features that have made EXILIM so popular there are now several significant added features. Defying the petite size of the camera, the EX-Z3 is the first EXILIM model to feature an in-built, high-performance 3x optical zoom lens; in addition to a 4x digital zoom. A new type of 3 segment telescopic zoom mechanism and stack MCM chip mounting technique enables the EX-Z3 to retain the distinctive EXILIM 'credit card size' height and width. The new EX-Z3 is a mere 22.9 mm at its widest point and only 19.7 mm at its thinnest. The EX-Z3 features Casio's own digital interface for clearer display images, with a large 2.0" TFT LCD that can be used both as a viewfinder for composing images, as well as for viewing your images instantly. The ability to integrate short movies with sound is a well-loved feature on the EX-M2 and, as such, has been incorporated into the EX-Z3. Users can now record up to 30-second clips of video with accompanying sound. The EX-Z3 even features Casio's quick response feature that has become an USP for all its digital cameras. Casio's unique technology enables the camera to power up and be available to shoot in just over a second. Original Casio technology also enables a shutter release time lag of 0.01 second, resulting in almost instantaneous image capture after pressing the shutter release button. A new cradle design allows the 2" LCD to face the user as images are being downloaded. The built-in Photo Stand feature, via one-button access, also enables users to view images saved in the memory on an 'automatic slide show'. Picture Reversal assumes that there is no need to flip your camera over when you want to share images with another person. Press a button and the camera flips the image for you. The camera will store and display images in date order on a unique calendar system, which lets you see which images you have taken and when, in a month to view format, providing a handy visual record of your activities. Casio's famous BEST SHOT function has been extended to the EX-Z3. With twenty-one pre-programmed settings, quality images are almost guaranteed whatever the environment. Casio's 'Coupling Shot', for instance, allows two subjects to be placed together in a single image, without the need to enlist the help of a passing local. The 'Pre-Shot' scenario allows image guidelines, such as the background scenery, to be composed and captured before a final image is stored in the memory.
