Casio Exilim EX-Z850

The Casio Exilim EX-Z850 is a small, sleek, silver ultracompact that takes good pictures, but we expected more from an 8MP camera.

Very little shutter lag. Large 2.5-inch LCD. Wide scene selection.

Pictures could be crisper. Menus are not well organized. No on-screen guides.

Casio EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z850 - digital camera review

Casio Exilim EX-Z850 A do-everything ultracompact camera for both photo enthusiasts and budding snapshooters, the Casio Exilim EX-Z850 squeezes a gazillion features into a package small enough to slip into any pocket. Of course, every silver lining has...

Ultracompact size; manual focus and exposure adjustments; 35 scene modes; excellent movie capabilities; versatile burst modes.

Limited zoom range; some JPEG artifacts and fringing in photos.

With its broad feature set and tunable performance, the Casio Exilim EX-Z850 is well suited for snapshooters and photo enthusiasts looking an ultracompact camera.

Casio Exilim EX-Z850 Review

Announced just before PMA in February 2006 - almost exactly a year to the day after the camera it replaces - the EX-Z850 is Casio's latest ultra-compact flagship model, offering a huge feature set in a very slim, all-metal body. The EX-Z750 was very...

Good resolution, natural accurate color, fairly subtle processing Huge, comprehensive feature set with real photographic control Lots of control over image parameters Wide selection of scene modes Excellent user interface Excellent all-metal...

Default settings do not necessarily produce the best results Default sharpening is a bit high (can be reduced) Macro mode doesn't get as close as some competitors Highlight clipping and some red channel clipping in wide dynamic range scenes Fairly...

Like the EX-Z750 before it, the EX-Z850 has much to commend it to the more serious photographer wanting a truly pocket-sized camera with real photographic control - in fact more so, given that the default settings produce images that lack the...

Casio EXILIM EX-Z850 review

Just before the start of the PMA 2006, Casio introduced their Casio Exilim EX Z850 digital camera. With a high resolution of 8 Megapixels, a 3x optical zoom and a large format 2.5 inch LCD display, packaged in a solid aluminium housing, the Casio...

With the introduction of the Exilim Z850 camera, Casio clearly assert their ability to equip a compact camera with a simply astounding amount of functionality, whilst ensuring it remains particularly accessible. Until recently, one could say the high...

Camera Review: Casio Exilim EX-Z850

The 8 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z850, big brother to stylish 6 megapixel sisters the EX-Z600 and EX-S600, shares some, but not all of its siblings' fun and functional features. And then it adds some of its own features and functions to the lineup

Casio Exilim EX-Z850 Digital Camera Review

The Casio Exilim EX-Z850 is a compact camera with an impressive set of features: housed in an attractive shiny metal case, there's an 8-megapixel image sensor, a 3x optical zoom lens and 34 scene modes. That's a bargain for less then $300

The shiny case has a sleek and simple aesthetic appearance that belies the large set of features that the camera offers. The Exilim EX-Z850 has an optical viewfinder you can use to frame shots, so you don't have to rely on the LCD screen. The back of...

Casio Exilim EX-Z850 Review

The Casio Exilim EX-Z850 is a full-featured and well-built ultra-compact digital camera. A rare thing among such small cameras, the Z850 features manual controls over shutter speeds up to 60 seconds and a choice of 2 apertures at all focal lengths....

Great image sharpness, Accurate image colors, Accurate white-balance, Above average flash range, Very fast and responsive, Fast focusing system, Good ergonomics, Nice build quality, Great battery-life

The Casio Exilim EX-Z850 ($399) is an update to their popular EX-Z750 model (see our review) that was introduced back in 2005. New features on the Z850 include an 8.1 Megapixel CCD, a "Rapid Flash" feature, more manual controls, improved battery life,...
