Casio QV-2300

The Casio QV-2300UX features a 2.11-megapixel CCD imager that yields 1600 x 1200 or 800 x 600 still images and 320 x 240 AVI movie clips up to 30 seconds in length. It features a 3x optical (12x digital) zoom lens with a macro mode that focuses as...

Casio QV-2300UX Plus

What's in the Box

Lots of features ; Cool "Scene" mode ; Well designed user interface ; Fast processing ; USB support ; IBM Microdrive in the box

Poor quality plastic body ; No optical viewfinder ; No uncompressed TIFF mode ; No sound with video ; Photo quality often soft and "brownish

There are two ways to look at the QV-2300UX Plus: As a $800 camera, and as a $400 camera with a $400 memory card. I tend to choose the latter option, though the camera is really packed with features for a $400 camera. The downside here is that the body...

Casio QV-2300UX

It's has some of the best features for on a compact digital camera. A host of built in filters and picture examples.

In warm environments the viewing LCD panel goes red when attempting to take a picture. With a very limited shutter speed to aperture causes the problem, an optical viewfinder would have solved this problem. However, you would lose the flexibilty of a...

A very good camera indeed. In a good lighting condition, the picture quality is very good. And the macro is very powerful, any begineer could produce studio-quality pictures in no time at all.

Poor low-light focusing. Images in low light tends to be grainy

My favorite camera so far. If they made a 3MP version of this camera I would buy it in a second. The qv3000 takes better pictures, but is nowhere near as flexible and fast as this camera.

This is great camera. The swiveling lense allows you to get photos you can't with a regular camera and you can not beat the micro drive for storage. I liked it so much I am ordering a QV2900 for a longer zoom

The rotating lens is an excelent feature and makes getting photos so easy. My wife not knowing a thing about it picked it up and was able to immedately start using it with little assistance. Would recommend to any one

Product Specifications

A long-time innovator in the consumer electronics market, Casio introduced its first digital camera, the QV-10, in the mid '90s. It was not only one of the original consumer digicams, it was also the first to incorporate an LCD monitor for viewing and composing images on-screen. Other Casio innovations have included the swiveling lens design, one of the first 3-megapixel cameras on the market, and extended photographic capabilities that have brought Casio from the consumer-electronics sphere into the realm of "real" cameras, with rich feature sets matching the desires of active photographers. The QV-2300UX is a midrange 2.11-megapixel camera with a wide range of features designed to endear it to both novices and advanced amateurs alike. Combining the signature Casio swivel-lens design with extensive exposure controls and a wide range of "scene presets" for the average user, the 2300UX offers a strong feature set in an approachable package. Continuing Casio's recent practice of bundling the IBM "Microdrive" 340-megabyte memory card with their cameras, the QV-2300UX offers extraordinary image capacity at a surprisingly modest price. The Casio QV-2300UX features a 2.11-megapixel CCD imager that yields 1600 x 1200 or 800 x 600 still images and 320 x 240 AVI movie clips up to 30 seconds in length. It features a 3x optical (12x digital) zoom lens with a macro mode that focuses as close as 1cm. It also has multi-pattern, spot and center-weighted metering options, Program AE, aperture and shutter priority AE and full manual. The IBM 340MB Microdrive allows up to 400 images in high resolution and 2054 in economy.
