Casio QV-3500EX

Casio's 3.3-megapixel digital camera offers loads of extra features and manual controls, but it's difficult to use.

The QV-3500EX comes in two packages: the standard package ($599) includes a 16MB CompactFlash card, and a "plus" package (under $900) which includes the 340MB IBM Microdrive! I tested the standard package

Great value with Microdrive (costs less than most cameras that include 8MB cards) ; Full manual controls ; Best Shot mode - handy ; Uncompressed TIFF support ; Very good playback mode ; Zoom works in movie mode

Cheesy plastic body, crummy CompactFlash slot ; Some photos seem over-compressed ; No sound in movie mode ; No rechargeable batteries included; PhotoLoader software isn't great

The area in which the Casio QV-3500EX stands out the most is value. For less than $900 (probably closer to $800), you can get a full-featured 3.3 Megapixel camera, with full manual controls, unique Best Shot mode, and an IBM Microdrive with virtually...

Just to leave a comment on my camera here, since I'm starting to look for a new one. Yes, yes. At year-2006, 5 years after I bought my Casio QV-3500 EX, which served me very well since that time. It was very reliable all the way through the years I...

I have had this camera for over three years with a 1Gb Microdrive/polarising filter/remote control and have taken over 30,000 photographs with it. I have had various other main cameras come and go over time, but this Casio has been a very good...

A continuously variable flash would be nice, as would a decent macro autofocus, battery meter really needs to work with NiMH cells, USB is slow as is the CF interface so TIFF images can take upto 30 seconds to save, nasty hack required to save RAW,...

I've had this camera for over a year now and taken it on two scottish holidays, used it in heavy rain and generally abused it. It has been a joy to use, taking excellent pictures even under extremes on english weather. My mate has an Oly e10 and I...

Accidently moved the focus area from centre to bottom. As i wasn't using the screen this caused some consternation as focussing became extremely unpredictable

A thoroughly competent camera ... so easy to use ... picture quality is consistently excellent ... must have had mine for a year now - can't imagine life without it!!

It's a pretty ugly looking piece of kit - but who cares

I am danish journalist and bought this camera the 6/8-2002 for use on websites and to illustrate articles in papers. I have done several tests in a few days and I may say the the camera fully meet my expectations.

No problems

I have had this camera almost a year. Takes great still pictures but it is too slow to capture cars that are going away from you. You have to take shots coming at you. What is in the lense is not what you get. I had a casio 700 I loved that camera...

No problems just that the camera isn't fast enough. I took a warranty out just in case
