Owners Opinion: Casio QV-R61 (thebobkat, 13 Dec 04)

Looking to upgrade my digital camera, I found this camera on sale, sold as a Casio QV-R62. At first I was hesitant to purchase it as it was a 6 megapixel camera with 3x Optical zoom for about $300 CDN - it seemed too cheap for a 6mp camera. It turned...

No real problems that I could find, although as per the previous reviewer, the flash warmup sometimes takes a few seconds longer. It could be more compact, but that tends to be impossible with it being AA battery powered (which I personally prefer)

Owners Opinion: Casio QV-R61 (Prairy Bruce, 4 Dec 04)

An electronics store in Toronto had this camera on sale at a very reasonable price. Based only on the price and some sample shots produced by the camera posted by someone else on dpreview, I decided to buy the camera. I haven't had the Casio for long,...

Well I wouldn't say this camera has "problems" per se, but there are a few things that I would a preferred Casio had improved/implemented. They are ; 1. The camera flash cycle time seems to take a bit longer than I would have expected ; 2. Writing...

Excellent little camera

Bought this September for ?160 I'd still consider this a bargain.

Sturdy construction, well built, easy to use, good quality images, excellent automatic and manual control of exposures.

No sound capture, on automatic it has tendency to offer slower "shutter" speeds than I would prefer.

Casio QV-R61 review

The QV-R61 is the new flagship of Casio's QV-R series. This is a slightly bulkier, less expensive line running alongside its Exilim models, and Casio claims improved image quality and responsiveness for the new model

Colours and contrast are first rate ; Exosure system seems very good ; Rich, unchy shots in good lighting

Lack of direct control over lens aerture ; Fringing can be a roblem ; Zooming range isn't brilliant
